England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 v 🇩🇪 Germany

FWIW it was our local ladies team, probably as low on the rung of the football ladder as you can go, but I ran the training sessions
doesn't matter what rung on what ladder, you would be invalidating the clubs insurance and opening yourself up to be sued.

Why would I be condescend about womens/girls football? Silly thing to say

Cos you have been condescending about everything else

Perhaps our club was ignorant of the insurance standing? News to me anyway

What are you on?
You do not need badges to run coaching sessions. A club at grass roots level have a duty of care to parents and kids, that the coaches are suitable. The club can then put them forwards for badges. Grass roots football would not exist if everybody had to have badges. However I am sure wokeness will change that.
I fully agree. My brother has had little interest in football all of his life. He's now 'coaching' his son's team. Basically he's willing to be the responsible adult.

Your 'wokeness' dig is infantile, by the way. Being 'woke' means you care about something enough and try to do something about it. Quite often opposing right wing bullshytters.

Boromart, are you serious. Do you really believe every club in this land, from the bottom rung upwards have coaches, assistants, lines people, who are qualified.to a FA level

level 1 yes because it includes child safety and first aid, which is deemed necessary

Of course level 1, that is

Of course Level 1, and all the checks that go with that course and cost. That is not my point. Grass roots football clubs cannot afford the time and cost thus trust and responsible adults play a part massively....not badges

Sport has moved on since the so called hobnail boots days of the 70s and 80s, and while I commend those who want to act professional in any subject, kids need to be taught correctly and by people who want to teach and have the capacity to teach the subject correctly. With this in mind I’d always advocate having someone who knows a bit about the subject and can prove it in some way — either by time spent or by certification-- just my op, but I suppose it's how you define the term "teach".

Adolf Hitler, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, Bratwurst, Herrman und Kleine, Hermann Hesse, RUDOLF Hess, the FAMILY Ness (Oh, hang on. They were Scottish, weren’t they? But it rhymes so I’ll keep it in there), Nietzsche, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, annexing Poland and stealing other peoples loungers at holiday resorts, smelling of cabbage, having no sense of humour, being all GERMAN, the Panzer tank, the siege of Stalingrad, the Luftwaffe, the Stielhandgranate, Werner Herzog, Fassbinder, Wim Wenders . . . ? YOUR boys took a HELL of a beating!

I don't think they took a hell of beating mind you-- now the 5-1 demo job back in the Ericsson days, now that was something else!!

Beating the Germans is just beating the Germans as far as I'm concerned. I'll always enjoy seeing that. Don't care how we did it. We've looked pretty rubbish so far but the Germans were just as poor as we were. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Ukrainians knocked us out in the quarter finals but we can dream, can't we? Still all to play for and you'd like to think that our players are capable of better then they've shown so far.

Much worse teams than this England team have gone on to win tournaments.
Teams have played a great deal worse than this England team and gone on to win.
Some very good teams on paper have faltered and failed (here's looking at you France!).

We need to stop looking at the performances and just admire the fact we have progressed to where we have, not condeded a goal and realise that very few people know more than Southgate about football.

In Gareth we trust, onwards we march, enjoy the ride.

Absolutely delighted with the score line but I think the game could easily have gone the other way. Germany had chances and missed them, or they were saved by Pickford (Pickford has been superb all tournament in my opinion). We had chances and we were clinical - that was the only real difference for me.
I don't think we played to our strengths - but we showed we can be tough to beat, and grind out results when it matters. Well done Gareth and England.

I think the performance deserves a lot of credit. It always felt like we fought them off and put the flow of the game back in our favour, never let them get any momentum.

Of course they had chances, they’re a side with champions league winners and some World Cup winners. If you let them get confident and start getting into a rhythm, they’re capable of turning teams over. Just ask Portugal from last week.

I actually think them whacking Portugal worked in our favour, to learn from everything they did wrong. But it takes a good team to do that, from management to the players.

It’s strange I was at the game and thought we played well, dominated them for long periods and restricted them to a few chances. Nerva played a part but I thought the game was quite exciting.

I’ve came home to reports of how terrible a game it was and how bad we were. It’s all about perspective but I didn’t think it was a terrible game.

that aside one of the best atmospheres at a football match in years.

I think it says a lot that a lot of the actual experts i.e. people who've played the game, managed the game etc can see how well our game plan was executed. Arm chair fans who think going back to the goalkeeper is the worst thing you can do on the pitch know more though, obv

The fan celebrations when England scored looked fantastic on the tele. Everyone went off it.
