England v Czech Republic

Classic professional performance. Solid, with a bit of luck, a few goals.

Main downside is yet again our set piece was awful.

This is where we really could have done with Ward-Prowse, especially when you consider the amount of free-kicks Grealish wins you. I'd have had him in the team for his set-pieces alone.

If Spain and Slovakia draw or Spain only beat Slovakia 1-0 a 3-0 France win against Portugal would put them out. Switzerland and Finland currently going out on -1 and -2. Hungary could then be England’s opponent I hear.
We play whoever finishes 2nd in Group F. Nothing to do with Slovakia or Spain.

It’s very easy to say we’re going out whoever we play in the next round, but not many teams will have kept 3 clean sheets and only faced 4 shots on goal, you have to credit us for that.

Bring on the next round ⚽
Glad we are at Wembley. Think there will be more fans allowed in too. If it is France, Germany or Portugal it will be a tough game of course, but they won’t want to be coming to England either and will see us as an extremely tough game. I quite fancy taking on the Germans myself. Bring it on

Professional performance, look solid at the back. Saka has surprised me, wouldn't have known he was English before May, but he's been excellent the two England games I've seen him play.

Good to see Maguire back. Stones looks a lot more confident and assured with him as a partner compared to Mings.

Only giving Sancho 10 minutes surprises me though. The commentator was correct about the German press been surprised he isn't starting for England, he absolutely rips it up in the Bundesliga
Yeah really poor the set pieces.
Should play Trippier, not sure why he was dropped after the Croatia game.

I didn't see that as a stolen game. We were easily better than the Czechs if Kane had scored and the Sterling chip had gone in...

One decent save from Pickford by way of reply.

I think in the second half the Czechs didn't want to go for it for fear of being picked off on the counter so were "happy" with the one goal loss and hope for a break from a set piece perhaps.
I did not see it as a stolen 😉game either, not sure why you said i did tbh 🙈

if that Hungary game was in Budapest then yes but they would have to win in Munich. Tough given that Germany's qualification isn't confirmed.
Could say the same about next week that the other team would have to win in London, Germany were beaten by North Macedonian at home a couple months ago

Not the most exciting game, especially second half. The game in general lost energy, Basically looks like two teams that know that they are through. I’m sure both teams wanted to win obviously.

Thought Saka and Grealish had good games, first half especially. They look like two players who are very difficult to play against. We always look at other countries and their players and worry about playing against them, but we should have some confidence in our players that they can do the same thing and let them go out and do it.

Thought Maguire and Henderson did well considering long layoffs. How their fitness and sharpness look against teams that can stretch them might be another story.

Kane was better tonight, no goal but his general play was much more tidy.

Not really a fan of Luke Shaw, I think he’s pretty poor on the ball. Same could arguably be said of Walker but he looks solid and assured defensively.

cant complain much. It’s not great entertainment but 7 points and 3 clean sheet. Hope we can find a few more goals as we progress. That said, we have hit the post in every game too. I definitely think there’s a lot more to come from us but we need to find it because there’s no second chances in the knockout stages.
