England v Czech Republic

To think at the start of the Competition we were worried about the defence. They look rock solid at the moment, especially with the two defensive midfield players. Grealish and Saka made the system work up front and helped Kane and Sterling.

Strange people turning against Foden. It was only a few weeks ago that there was a thread comparing him with the very best in the world.

He should remain the first name on the team sheet

I'd play saka ahead of foden.
No doubt, if Southgate is serious about playing players in form. Foden hasn’t caused those sort of problems in the first two games. Yes there’s always a chance he finds his form but Saka really took his chance. I’d be very tempted to stick with him, Grealish and Sterling.

I don’t know why but I have a feeling Kane will come good in the knockouts. Obviously this could just be a daft/incorrect hunch.

I can't see him not being in Southgate's plans given he was specifically excluded from the squad today to protect him from a suspension.

He has stuck with Sterling and all he did in those first two games of note was score. Sticking with Sterling paid off tonight when he repaid that faith. Equally Foden should also be given faith given his talent and start next week when we play world class opposition for the first time

Well even if you leave out Saka you have to leave out Grealish or Mount to keep Foden in. Sterling won’t be dropped. Whoever you leave out it’s a big call.

I’d probably give our group performance a C overall. 2 solid but not spectacular performances and a disappointing draw against the worst team in the group.

I think Portugal or Germany in the next round would be a good game. I don’t see us breaking down the French defence, and if we go a goal down and have to push they are lethal on the counter. They drew with Hungary but missed a lot of chances in that game.

I think on balance I’d prefer Portugal. Which feels strange given they’re the reigning champions. Their defence was awful v Germany though.

it was all for them when they lost their opening game.
They did have to win last night which was a big ask. For parts of the game Scotland worried Croatia but couldn't maintain that for the 90 minutes. Modric was the best player on the pitch by a mile.

That Scotland team is the best we've seen for 20 years though still not good enough to progress.

I suspect it won't be another 23 years before they qualify again though.

Well given that there are 24 European teams at both the Euros and World Cup as of the next cycle, you would certainly hope not.

Southgate doesn't play players in form. That's a myth. He sticks to what he knows and who he trusts.

Humpty sorry mate but I am calling this as bs. Go look at the players Southgate has used where had much of the old guard gone. The team for this competition is very different to the world Cup.

Your view would be very difficult to defend with any sort of evidence.
