Ollie Robinson

some people obviously don't realise the impact of social media could have on their lives down the road. Robinson now has to somehow find a way to mend this but I think that's it for him.

Annoyed me this, he was young daft and made a silly mistake. He’s apologised and I’m sure he is genuinely sorry, he probably won’t of even remember writing it. I have seen some old things I written when I was a kid and i was like really? We all mature at our own pace. Terrible decision in my opinion, feel for the lad

I dont believe anyone hasnt said something wrong in the past whether being daft, out of order, drunk or just showing off. Hes apologised.

Its seems people just love to dig out old stuff on anyone who's made something of themselves to knock them down.

Perhaps rather than a ban they could have put him together with someone who fights racism and tried to educate some young teams within cricket.

I haven't seen the tweets, but any punishment should be appropriate and take into account his age at the time. He should commit some personal time to righting the wrongs of his past, and then we should move on and make sure he gets that second chance. But this should be a message to all youngsters about their social media presence, people should not feel it's where they can show the worst side of themselves without any comeback. Until that happens the internet will continue to be a place where hate and disinformation is bred.

It wasn’t one tweet, it was quite a lot of tweets, you can see them on twitter.

Not saying that the punishment is correct but the argument that it was a one off thing is incorrect.

I guess that the argument is that an apology after being outed isn't really sincere or a punishment? But post appropriate punishment then he should be allowed to move forward with his life.

How old was he when he did this? 13? For goodness sake kids are kids and say and repeat whatever is in fashion without knowing what they are talking about.
In my era it was "Spastics" or Biafrans or anyone who was disabled. Yes I am ashamed of what I said but only because many years later I found out it was wrong, not acceptable and disgraceful. I made mistakes just like any other 13 year old..

He wasn’t 13.

Just in the interests of accuracy, I believe he was an adult, not 13.

He was 18-19 so... an adult.

I think perhaps the general public would welcome an apology (which I believe he’s since done) and let him get back on with his cricket but life in the media driven world has taken on a new meaning now. I feel sorry for him in some respects as it was several years ago when Twitter was barely born but he’s playing for England — national team exposure means almost squeaky clean unless you’re LeBron James who can have his minders quickly delete his anti this or that comments and then deny any knowledge of them.

On the grand scale of things I would have thought an apology and perhaps some restorative work would have been suffice. I mean look at who we have in number 10! Some of the indiscretions he done - the Darius Guppy affair alone should have stopped him from becoming PM
