Nandy comes across well imo
Corbyns legacy lives on.
And lost 14% less hands two years ago, mainly on the back of the parties brexit positionCorbyn who won the Hartlepool seat twice?
Corbyn who got 52% of the vote in Hartlepool less than 4 years ago?
Corbyn who got kicked out the PLP last year?
Lefty - Unrestricted immigration (from EU) and other immigration I am sure was an issue in some people's voting - I did not include because the posts before me had put in their words "hatred of foreigners". Myself I believe immigration is in general a good thiong for an economy, but it needs some sort of points style system like many other countries have and we take in some people who lives are heavily threatened of death in their own countries .
I appreciate posters responses. I did not say my points were right I said it was why people voted in 2016. The key to me is that people feel left behind and that is not an illusion created by the Daily Mail/Daily Express who probably are read by 3%? of the population on Teesside. The Labour Party has to say what it will do to level up the UK particularly on job opportunities which have been declining for years in places like Hartlepool and Redcar areas.
Immigration is not an issue for most people, only those with a far right agenda. Except the majority see labour as the party of uncontrolled immigration and the tories as been tough on immigration, its not true but thsts how the majority perceive the situationImmigration is not an issue for most people, only those with a far right agenda. Uncontrolled immigration however is an issue, and is something that influences a lot of voters. Given that both the Tories and Labour appear to be welcoming mass uncontrolled immigration, I don't think it has played too much part in the thinking of voters in Hartlepool.
I don't think is accurate at all. Immigration was a central part of the Brexit agenda a that sentiment remains alive and well.Immigration is not an issue for most people, only those with a far right agenda. From my experiences immigration is a good thing for the country and the economy.

It is an issue that people are afraid of talking about for obvious reasons.Except the majority see labour as the party of uncontrolled immigration and the tories as been tough on immigration, its not true but thsts how the majority perceive the situation
Ruined our only credible opposition to the Tories. The damage done by Corbyn and his looney entourage will take decades to repair.... if it ever will be.Corbyn who won the Hartlepool seat twice?

Corbyn who got kicked out the PLP last year?
Wouldn't have made any differenceWell hopefully this is a wake up call for them to trust the local party on the ground going forward

And voters - polls still overestimating their support as against the resultAnd replaced by whom ?

That's certainly true, but it's more than that. There's competition for employment and downward pressure on wages in some trades. That's one of the reasons why people can be opposed to immigration without being racist or xenophobic. Essentially, it's labour market competition they don't like. Having said that, it can lead to xenophobia.I don't think is accurate at all. Immigration was a central part of the Brexit agenda a that sentiment remains alive and well.
The omder the voter, the more likely they'll Support Brexit and by association, the Conservatives.
But immigration in the Brexit context is about race, religion and heritage, its an emotive view, based very much on wider sentiment than the hard facts of the issue itself.
