Johnson's scandals- how on earth did he get where he is

My main point is that the difference between getting into Oxford and not is a level results. Any idiot who can learn by rote can get good grades at a level. I dont have a single a level but have a1st class degree and an iq of over 140. I was rubbish at school 6 o levels because education wasn't considered important in my family.

The difference in intelligence between a graduate from Oxford and Nottingham is nil.

That really is a fact.
Disagree. A Level Maths at least in Pure Maths or Further Maths form cannot be learnt by rote. It requires genuine ability in logic and reasoning or at least it did in my experience

And of course George Osbourne failed it

You only have to take a brief look into the local Facebook groups to see that many who only recently voted conservative have a hatred for anything or anyone that is anti-tory. It will be very very difficult to get them to ever go back, they are the new ’MAGA’, a lot of them too caught up in fake news propaganda. The only way to get them out at the next election is to get the vote of those who don’t bother to vote. The US has shown this can be done and I’d say they were in a bigger mess than we are.

Yes my local Labour mp was pictured with some army pilots today and said she supported the armed forces.

The slaver she got on Facebook from current and ex service people was unreal. As well as saying Blair and corbyn have destroyed the army!!

I felt it was futile to remind them 11 years of tory cuts have led us to the smallest army since 1700

I think this aggressive over the top Tory support on social media is interesting, it shows an insecurity in my opinion, they are not comfortable in their own ability to hang onto power are they?

Your local Labour mp may be the target of hate but the reality is that Johnson’s own former chief advisor is the one doing the damage to him.

Fiddling while Rome burns.....

Polls never seem to factor in shy tories, despite year after year it being a big factor.
Nowadays though they are not so shy, the stigma of voting iam alright jack narrow minded xenophobic homophobic misfit seems to have waned.

How good are you at getting things done? Getting other people to understand your point of view? Getting other people to do what you want them to do? Think on your feet?

Join a political party and see if you can make a difference.
Not bad. And for me, a prime minister should be a lot more than that. That’s why it’s a travesty that the only difference between BJ and many people is what school he went to. Yet the British public value this so disproportionately it’s bonkers.

What have a Labour Government actually done for us since the Second World War ?
We are always bottom of the good bits and top of the bad bits !
The Conservatives , for selfish reasons of course , have promised us a route out of our continual depression and into the Promised Land.
Give them a couple of years to see if the route actually happens and then make your mind up to sack them or not.
Everyone , including Boris , deserves a chance to fulfill their promises.

Johnson deserves nothing from me.
Interesting how these Tory shills pop up every now and again.

Laura Kuenssberg, the BBC Political Journalist/Tory Propagandist has, presumably through necessity, written an article addressing the Prime Minister's lying.

According to this journalistic giant, Johnson has a "complicated relationship with the truth" but she can't find any examples of him actually telling lies. So that's alright then.

How inept/blind/owned does a journalist have to be to miss examples of Britain's Biggest Liar in action? I used to trust the BBC.

You do know they have already had more than 10 years in government?

Its a fascinating piece that says nothing- its almost written to confuse further and make people question the accusations of lying as strategy or poor attention to detail. If ever there was a piece written to let off lying its this one.

I appreciate the bbc is neither left or right wing in its writings, but the political editor is very forgiving or Johnsons clear lies.

Sunday Times. Johnson can’t afford to be PM.

Is it usual for the Sunday Times to produce such a damning piece on a Tory PM?

A prominent MP received a complaint from a Tory donor that they were asked to foot the bill for a nanny for Wilfred, Johnson’s son with Symonds, who turned one last week. The donor is alleged to have said: “I don’t mind paying for leaflets but I resent being asked to pay to literally wipe the prime minister’s baby’s bottom.”

Some comments on this thread ignore some basic truths. Social media, for example, is very easily manipulated and should never be used as a political pulse of a nation. Someone else talks about pills and shy tory voters, suggesting they don't factor these in. That simply ignores how complex polling has become over the years.

Polls are generally very accurate. Even to the point where multiple polls are conducted with the same question rephrased. For example should covid passports be introduced for entry to public venues and, by the same pollster, should non vaccinated people have the same freedoms as vaccinated people. They have very different results but both were reported.

I keep an eye on the You Gov website and I agree that it depends what and how you ask the public.

The web site has also become very political in the way they ‘headline’ poll results, very much like a Tory newspaper would, highlighting the good part of the poll for the Tories and the bad part for Labour.

I agree I believe they do just that. I don't believe they rig the results, just report selectively. With all things, the devil's in the detail and most don't bother with the detail.

It would be harder to find examples of him telling the truth.

Here's quite a good explanation of why pollsters often seem to get it wrong, even when they've adjusted their methods for why they got it wrong the last time.

I read that the other day. As I recall it came across as an opinion piece, albeit scattered with facts. I may re-read it, as I am not sure it's the same article.
