Yes he would because there will now be a fear amongst Brexiters about rejoining, and like in Hartlepool the battle is now being fought because the Labour candidate had the audacity to want to remain. They’ve found a way of getting past the fact that we have now left the EU.Yes that true, but enough did to give the right big majority and if there was an election today sadly I think he'd win easily again.
I hope you are right but I can see ‘rejoining’ becoming an issue going forward.I read a few months back that 2million Tory votes were people (not 18 year olds) who had bever voted in a general election before. I guess most won't bother to vote again.
I hope that’s true, it gives some hope for this country of ours.
I think they might, they voted because of brexit and they still see labour as the enemyI read a few months back that 2million Tory votes were people (not 18 year olds) who had bever voted in a general election before. I guess most won't bother to vote again.
You won't get far with low achieving dimwits in charge. There's your problem, some people actually believe that nonsense.
No wonder we get what we get
Yes, let's vote for handed on a plate high achieving dimwitsYou won't get far with low achieving dimwits in charge.
Completely agree, this is now a long game. The problem is especially in the red wall areas where people voted for the first time in the referendum then again in 2019 they don't see labour as the party representing them.
Most have little or no interest in politics, tgey will have no idea that for example labour gave us the NHS and the minimum wage, and the tories fought tooth and nail to block it.
They don't know or care that most benefits brought in to help the working classes were brought in by labour opposed by the tories.
The Tories have seen what worked for trump and its working for them.
Flag waving jingoism, and its no good labour trying to trying to copy.
Labour need policies that resonate with the voters.
The problem is now is not the time, due to the pandemic no one knows what state financially the country will be in, and policies on spending will seem unavailable.
Iam no fan of starmer but he needs to bide his time, when the hard yikes from brexit and covid hit then that's the time yo offer something different radical change.
I think those of us who want rid of the tories need to bide our time.
The County has lurched to the right, we need to wait for it to implode on itself as happened under thatcher before we can make inroads
Not true I am afraid. The average iq of a graduate is 120 and it doesn't change depending on the university they attended. People at Oxford are not more intelligent on average than people going to teesside uni. They were just pushed more by their parents at school. The people who end up running the country in any government are generally bright people. Good degrees, Oxford, Cambridge, etc. You may not like it that they went to Eton or Fettes or Harrow but they are undoubtedly bright people.
If you want to choose the best people to run the country then you have to include people from the ancient universities etc in the search.
Yes. Sort of what I was meaning in a roundabout way. Until the public wake up to this we’re stuck with folk like BJ.A posh background and accent is very highly regarded in this country, particularly amongst the working class.
And more likely to have gone to a particular fee paying school which produces PMs at a disproportionate level. Not true I am afraid. That's encouraging
Not really the only polls worth looking at are youguv and ipso mori. They are easy more accurate than the others. I tend to ignore polls good or bad from any but the two mentioned. That's encouraging
Yes, I agree, but successful people are committed to learning, committed to making a difference, committed to improving themselves and the world around. So if you want the best people, start at the good universities where they've had to achieve something to get in. Boris isn't a good example but bright people are being taught by really bright people, so start the search there. There are plenty of bright people all over, but as with everything, go with the low hanging fruit first. Not true I am afraid. Ill have to look at opinium. Doesn't matter who owns youguv election after election they have proven to be accurate. Its accurate because the methodology was developed and overseen by doug rivers a professor at Stanford and not a tory.Opinium were the most accurate in 2019. Youguv are owned by Tories and have produced some suspicious polls recently that are designed for headlines.
All pollsters have their own methods and margin of errors, how they place those margins are what effects the results. Right now they are all within margin of error with the exception of a few outliers.
My main point is that the difference between getting into Oxford and not is a level results. Any idiot who can learn by rote can get good grades at a level. I dont have a single a level but have a1st class degree and an iq of over 140. I was rubbish at school 6 o levels because education wasn't considered important in my family.Yes, I agree, but successful people are committed to learning, committed to making a difference, committed to improving themselves and the world around. rediculous simplification. They are not the brightest people, they are not there on merit ad some really aren't that bright. The people who end up running the country in any government are generally bright people. Good degrees, Oxford, Cambridge, etc. You may not like it that they went to Eton or Fettes or Harrow but they are undoubtedly bright people.
