Too much bellicose posting

Yes I am entrenched in my position, but that doesnt stop debate!

Awareness and debating is one thing, name calling and singling people out is another.

I totally agree with OP on this point:
"if you find one poster's belligerance intolerable, do us all a favour and ignore them"

I want people to see my side, by bringing awareness to issues, any issue that are important to me.

Fine and if you are also prepared to see their side as well then you have my respect.

I think we are all. The issue always comes when someone doesn't actually present a side. I would love someone to convince me I'm wrong. Would love to be able to enjoy living in the country of my birth again. It has just proven difficult

RIGHT! This is my last post on here.

Probably.

Goodbye cruel world, you've never understood how certain posters are out of hand and bullying me....

I'm leaving now.....

....ish

No. no. it doesn't matter how much you ask me to stay or how many of you say I'm great

...but do keep trying, won't you.....

right, last, final post ever.....

maybe, sort of....

(repeat, ad nauseum)

BTW I've just looked up what bellicose means. How rude! It thought it was Italian for "beautiful things"

This just confirms the OP about entrenched positions and a one sided approach.

If you were aware you would have realised that. It's not a one way street.
I am a remainer, but I'd say that previous poster made a fair assessment. Remainers much more likely to call the other side thick/racist/gammon/bigot on here.

Also a shame that ST can't take the hint from the OP, and let it go a bit.

I'm not insulting anyone. Not looking for an argument. Just stating my point. I'm willing to meet people halfway.

You most certainly are not, nor was there a reason for you to enter a comment in a dialogue between me and another poster.

Fair enough, if you are genuinely not looking for arguments, or trying to be antagonistic! That said, "More Brexit good news" as a thread title, followed by "Britain is losing its grip on Gibraltar".... certainly seems somewhat inflammatory!

(As I've told you before, I'm a Remainer, and was pretty gutted when we voted to leave... but those endless types of threads don't seem to lead anywhere)!

You don't come across in your posting as being willing to meet people halfway, but if you genuinely are, then that's good (y)

Yeah I know it doesn’t come across well but that reflects my frustration. You know my beliefs on Brexit and I may seem confrontational but I don’t mean to. I genuinely want to be convinced that I’m over reacting, I’m happy with good news, I’ve even shared Brexit good news myself. I just wish there were more of it

You're over reacting.

Always here for you hun

And this for me is where the issues arise: when posters state their opinions as fact with the implication being if you don't agree with me, then you're in the wrong

The topics are not really the problem here, its easy to read out of interest but not engage, or simply skip past and not read at all. The issue I have is with the style/tone/underlying inferences of some posts, call it what you will

Yes, I've noticed that you are pretty frustrated, but it COULD yet be a success. It's going to take time though. I can't really argue that at the moment there are more obvious downsides, when you hear about exports to Europe dropping 40% and so on... but things like that will likely bounce back.

I know it's not a consolation, regarding you wanting to enjoy living in your country again, but IMO Covid has massively added to those negative feelings. Being locked up so much like we have been, it's very easy to focus on negative issues.

I am very much hoping that when things start to open up a bit, and we can all emerge from our boxes... that life can get back to being a bit more enjoyable! 🤞🤞

I hope you’re correct. I’m genuinely at the point where I would leave if I could at the moment. Family commitments mean I can’t but on a personal level I no longer want to live here. Let’s see what happens this year.

Most of the post from the remain side are about bringing awareness to people that just follow the standard news.

They are then hijacked by people that dont want a debate (both sides) and yes it turns into a slanging match.

The whole point those is awareness and what people are not seeing!
That’s quite condescending mate. Do I suppose from that, that you assume anyone who voted to leave blindly follows what’s in the mainstream press??

They are, because it's true in some cases, certainly not all cases, but definitely some. I don't think I've ever seen a post where someone is saying all or even most leavers are thick or racist though, as those comments would be very far from the truth. But most make a big point in saying "SOME" are, and more than remainers would be, trying to be very clear that it does not apply to all.

It's just about understanding probabilities, you can't lump everyone in together, but the probabilities do change with age/ class/ upbringing/ education.

ST highlights brexit problems, which is fine, as there are loads of brexit problems, and new ones each week, ignoring the problems won't make them go away, but people can always click ignore or not read the brexit/ politics threads. I personally like them, as I think it's good to know the most recent goings-on, with regards to brexit and good to see other points of view. There seems to be plenty of people willing to debate on the leave side and it brings traffic to the site, which helps prop up other threads.

What are both words in Spanish? 😵‍💫
That'll get the brain cells moving.
If you believe google a bellicose argument is: argumento belicoso.

The stick an o or an a on the end of it rule works again (o for masculine words and a for feminine words).
