Only ever had two myself which were Nigel Pearson and Alen Boksic. Being a centre-half myself back in the day I really enjoyed watching Big Nige. Big, strong, tough, hard in the tackle, uncompromising and a great leader. An old school centre half who during my formative years of watching the Boro epitomised everything a centre half and leader should be. I always thought it a shame that during a considerable period of his career he had very poor luck with injuries and was always only half-fit. Whilst he still had a great career he could probably have achieved more had he been injury free.
Alen Boksic speaks for himself and while he divides opinion he is, for my money, the best striker we have ever had at the Boro purely in terms of ability. Viduka not far behind mind, and he certainly did more for the Boro. However, I genuinely believe that if Alen Boksic didn't have the injury record that he did (and perhaps a bit more professional approach to the game) that he'd never have been in a Boro shirt. His career would have been spent at the top European clubs IMHO.
