Opinion on woody is divisive amongst the fan base, but regardless of opinion the following was the problem. And he did the job Gibson wanted him to do with a divided squad and those players who needed to leave have now gone.
1. He should never have been thrown in like he was.
2. He needed experience in his backroom staff to make it work.
3. He had far too many players in the squad even if good enough needed to move on for themselves and the sake of the club, a lot of them had become stale at the club but were on far too much money to move out. the hunger just didn't look to be there.
4. It appeared he was too pally with some players and not others.
Warnock is doing so much better with about 50% of the resources at his disposal. so the comments make no sense. if Warnock had last seasons squad would he be doing better, the answers yes.
Most of his signings now look good enough at this level, Djksteel, Bola look the payers he knew they could be.
Was he out of his depth, maybe. But mainly it was learning on the job which was the problem and never knowing and trusting his best 11 or having them available which was the downfall.
Could we have predicted the outcome i would say yes, but if he gets the opportunity again i am sure he will do far better. I'm not sure it was all Woody's fault.
Personality with the press and what came out was maybe at times too honest, passionate and naive, as he has a very strong personality and desire to win, and his anger not achieving it eat away with him the more the season went on. Control that better and i am sure it will make him a better coach in the future.
