I'm no architect or engineer, but is it possible to incorporate some of the structure into the second Tees crossing, which has been on and off the agenda for decades?
I'm not suggesting it holds a road where the cradle now goes, but using the supports either side and incorporating the steel over the top of a new bridge?
That would mean having both side sections providing the bridge, with new foundations, supports, and reinforcements?
It would have to be moved and used where the new crossing of the Tees was decided.
Just a thought.
