Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

I said in December when injuries were at the worst that he will become a big player for us in the next couple months… I was not expecting a bid from a top premier league club.

I think if we get offered north of £10m you have to take it seriously.

My worry is if we reject the bid, does the player become disgruntled? No doubt his agent will be in his ear.

Fleece them for him, he is absolute toilet! 2 goals in 25 games at 2nd division level, and doesn't get in our starting 11. Granted he could improve a litttle bit, but barely any players improve past 23 years old and he is nearly 22. Please everyone keep quiet about him and lets charge them up! For once we might get a goodl deal on a sale!

eh?

I'd be disappointed if he goes now. I think he has alot of potential and he'll be worth more in a year or so.

I bet the first offer was buttons just to unsettle him.

I'm surprised they want him though as he's nowhere near their first team standard. Is it to do with the number of homegrown/english players needed in a squad?

If all that's true, why do you think Villa one of the most successful clubs of the last few years, with an extremely successful transfer policy, and one of the most respected managers in the world have made him their number one transfer priority?
Could it be that they're better at judging footballers than you?
Doesn't always work like that.

There's no way we turn down a £10m+ bid. He's looked good at times but he's still very raw, very wasteful and could stay and never improve. If you can 5x an investment in 5 months you do it. He's not even in our 1st choice 11.

Didn’t see this coming at all. Anything north of £10m would be great business. Really difficult to know what his ceiling would be, but for that money we could get two top championship players if we invested well.

I know what some are saying about keeping hold as he might be worth more at a later point - but sadly that’s not how football works. He could get an ACL injury on Saturday and never be the same again, he might never get better than he is now, other clubs might not be looking for a player of his profile. The fact they are looking to recruit in January is always a good sign for our negotiating.

The other thing is what the player wants. If he wants the move, he can make it difficult for us. Every player at every club has their price, good luck to him if he does go, I think the best is yet to come from him.

Seems pretty level headed, clearly loving it here as well, his reaction at Millwall said it all.

He's had a go at a big club, got lost int eh system, he just wants to play, plenty of time to push for the big club move.
