That’s a huge gamble given how shaky we were at the back. We’ve always had good defenders (and always lacked wingers) for as long as I’ve followed us. I can’t remember a time in all my years us being so poor at the back. I’m all in favour of young players getting game time, that’s what the loan system is for and it’s not as if you can’t see how they develop out on loan too. I think throwing young players into the fire is a recipe for disaster, remember the Fry debacle at beach ball Charlton in our promotion year? He barely played for us for 3 years? after that. I’d rather our young players went to the lower leagues for a season and played 30 times rather than got their confidence shot and being in and out of a team in the championship because they keep making mistakes. I don’t really rate Fry tbh, he’s not a good communicator, he can switch off and gets bullied by physical strikers.
