Where would you like to live for 3 months?

I'd probably say New York. Have never been and anyone I speak to who has been tells me how incredible it is from the food, the shopping, the nightlife, the live music. There is something about watching those shows like Man v Food and Eddie Eats America that makes me really want to go. I'm not a fatty, but would be by the time I'd finished my 3 month stay, the grub looks amazing!

I've been there many times and as soon as I get there I can't leave soon enough. Get in, do business, get out ASAP.

Way too busy, noisy & expensive for my liking. But then some people like it like that :)

The expense is the issue. Living in London, and currently hearing a tonne of construction and road traffic noise, the noise and busy, bustling city is right up my street. I get an energy from big cities, from Shanghai to Hong Kong to Paris to LA I love them

Wherever it is I go it would be for the food but if I'm living there would I eat the food or eat out every day? If it is somewhere like London then eating out 3x a day is prohibitively expensive unless you're on megabucks, somewhere like Thailand where all the locals eat out for every meal would be more up my street. Good food, good weather, nice views & cold beer. Wherever gives me that combination without me having to work too hard would be the dream.

Yes I lived in London for 20 years and loved the buzz but wait until you get to my age :)

Next time you're in a city take a look around - you don't see too many older people, right?

I've lived in London since 1995, the hustle and bustle of city life doesn't bother me. I quite like it, as for the expense, i live within my means, and this post stated if you could have an average lifestyle while there.

Outer Hebrides, Lewis or Harris. Or even one of the smaller islands.

My grandma was from North Uist, I'd say there but when I mentioned going to someone from that knew the place he said "Can you drink?", I said well, at a push, why? And he said "Because there's nothing else to do". One time I'd have been off like a shot but unfortunately I've mellowed a bit. Honest officer.

It's an incredible place. Living there would be hard though. Everything is expensive and (unlike the entire rest of the US) houses are expansive and tiny. Certainly one for the "visit often" but not actually living there list.

You might want to check the real estate listings for San Francisco, Silicon Valley, San Diego as well as Honolulu.

Montreal. A place I've never got round to going but would love to spend a fair bit of time there and get to know it.

I've been to Buenos Aires, yeah its lush.

Have to say I found Tokyo a bit 'meh'.

My second choice would be Hong Kong, though probably not at the moment.
Montreal has a nice vibe to it. Great in the winter albeit very cold.

It's for a few months. I work in New York & the energy (was) is amazing. I think it would be great for a few months as you'd really get the best of it

I agree, I lived there for 11 years, great place &; the post did state you would be able to live a normal life etc. Another place, like NY, that would be great for a few months.
I moved there in 94 & I would say it was a more affordable place then then now though

Exactly there's a energy in NY you don't get anywhere else. I must have been 30 odd times, including working there on and off for 6 months, and even now when I arrive I still think to myself "I'm in New York - how did that happen". The view approaching Manhattan whether it be from NJ or from Brooklyn still blows me away,

I also love upstate NY, places such as Saratoga Springs are absolutely lovely places to visit, with some amazing bike riding round there too.

One of our traditions is to go to NYC for Mrs Jumpers birthday, which normally coincides with Thanksgiving, and so kicks off our Christmas season. Sadly that looks like it's not going to happen this year :(:cautious:

Remember the deal was that you could live a normal life! So long as it's not a 5star place every day you would be in the rules... Enjoy the dream!

Slightly different to you guys, and on the basis I moved away 45 years ago when I was ten and have only returned a couple of times for flying visits. I would have to say North Yorkshire. I used to live in Hutton Rudby and when I had a flying visit 4 years ago, I was blown away about the area. I absolutely loved it and have so many good memories.
After living in Wiltshire for many years between the Cotswolds and Salisbury Plains, the Yorkshire moors are far more beautiful. I now live in North Devon and while the beaches are superb, I cant wait to move away to somewhere more civilised and commercial.

If it wasn't so far away from my children I would move back to North Yorkshire tomorrow.

Great time of the year to be here. Xmas time really nice, lovely vibe & you're right about upstate NY . People forget NY is, I think , about the size of England/UK..!

Smog ,it has to be a place you haven't already been to.... although anywhere in Yorkshire...👌

Cape Cod in one of the small coastal towns, spent some time there last summer, loved it, a place I could definitely settle into for a longer period.

One of my favorite places in the world, especially Chatham and the Chatham Bars Inn which is one of my favorite hotels in.
the US.

One of my best mates is from the Cape, but now lives in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe and you can see why he left, it's such small town America, although his childhood sounded idyllic.
