I never mentioned he is doing anything unethical or criminal, I stated he's got hidden charges or should I say additional fees that may not be immediately apparent when booking a ticket. Budget airlines often offer low base fares to tempt people in but make up for it by charging extra for various services or amenities. Why would people refuse to fly with them, he's not doing anything immoral he's just using a different model to some of the more traditional airlines. So rather than offering a "all in" price, he offers a basic model which you can then augment with extras in order to arrive at a final price (which is still often cheaper than the more traditional equivalent). The charges aren't hiddem, they're displayed in the terms and conditions before you proceed to payment.
No different to plenty of other industries, yet people seem to think he's doing something unethical or criminal.
You need or can pay extra for baggage fees, seat selection, priority boarding, credit card fees, printed boarding passes, airport check-in and some airlines add fuel surcharges.
Standard seat selection and boarding cards used to be included in the base fare and were allocated on a first come first served basis. Personally, I feel it led to a better customer experience and satisfaction when booking and did not leave a bad taste in your mouth like this nickel and dime approach does.
