Just hope NW is not just a stop gap for JWs returnSo JW is still at the club in some capacity????
I honestly can't see the issue with him in some sort of position managing the academy etc, the young kids will certainly look up to him due to the career he's had & TBH I wouldn't think, or expect, any academy trainee thinking he failed miserably, he would, IMHO, build a players confidence up to go out & perform at his level & I hope Gibbo does keep him on the payrollRidiculous Woodgate staying on in any capacity. How can you command respect from any footballer around the place when you failed so miserably?
Never known such a sentimental club or group of fans in my life. If you're 'one of our own' you've got a job for life seemingly.
I really disagree erimus.I honestly can't see the issue with him in some sort of position managing the academy etc, the young kids will certainly look up to him due to the career he's had & TBH I wouldn't think, or expect, any academy trainee thinking he failed miserably, he would, IMHO, build a players confidence up to go out & perform at his level & I hope Gibbo does keep him on the payroll
All about opinions, he's played for Real Madrid, Spurs, England, captained BoroI really disagree erimus.
He failed spectacularly, has been really unimpressive and I can't see why the youngsters will look up to him given what has happened.
Move on.
Of course the youngster's would look upto him Erimus...it's folly to suggest otherwiseAll about opinions, he's played for Real Madrid, Spurs, England, captained Boro
I think he's done enough for young players just coming in to the game to aspire to, just my opinion mind
Could you imagine a youngster listening to him on the training pitch & knowing where he's played, the level & with whoOf course the youngster's would look upto him Erimus...it's folly to suggest otherwise
Absolutely Erimus don't listen to Mr Negative...Could you imagine a youngster listening to him on the training pitch & knowing where he's played, the level & with who
Most managers will end up getting the sack, not many local players will achieve what he has in the game, of course he deserves respect & the chance to stay on
Gibson's interview on Look North was excellent, honest and hopeful. How he finds time with his other committments is amazing. There's only one Steve Gibson, the club will rebuild.Firstly, good to hear him! Secondly it is apparent he got the shock of his life at the prospect of relegation. Good! Looking forward it really does sound as Warnock will be calling the shots. Again, good.
whisper it quietly- with the right recruitment we could be in for a really interesting and exciting season.
Nest decision Gibbo has made in years appointing Warnock. Please back his judgement and decisions, Gibbo!
I think he means Southgate.Don’t understand the bit about stitching him up at all. He wasn’t exactly in demand. He’d have got a job nowhere else as manager. We gave him a chance, lowered the bar of expectation and he still failed spectacularly. I do feel for him as it wasn’t an easy task, but there was certainly no stitch up.
As I stated on another thread yesterday there are now very few "local boys" with senior positions on Boro's staff. You look at the media department, ticketing, finance and much of the coaching etc and led by Neil Bausor himself people have replaced Teessiders, presumably on merit through interviews. Neil Bausor is from the chemical industry. The advantage would be he brought fresh thinking and approaches to the club.
Jonathan Woodgate was manager of the month at Christmas - the curse of the Manager of the Month has rarely been so strong.
Remember Newcastle when they had Ashley, Kinnear and Wise.As I stated on another thread yesterday there are now very few "local boys" with senior positions on Boro's staff. The Newcastle fans were up in arms, the Southern Mafia they called them. Couldn't wait to get them out.Get some local staff in who know the club and the area, some people the fans can connect to they cried...
This apparently doesn't apply at Middlesbrough...if you are a local lad connected to the club you are worse than something you pick up on the bottom of your shoe.
They've all lived away too long Rob....
