During the When people where at home did anyone ReDiscover .or take- up a hobby or interest fat the extra time allowed them to do so?
For example , sour dough bread starters, longer walks, past favourite board games etc
I posted a few months ago that I was getting into 1,000+ piece Jigsaws...I found it quite relaxing and it helped to take ones mind off things & yet I haven't been able to keep it going.

Got back into Painting, drawing and Calligraphy and enjoyed them.Read plenty of books and listened to plenty of music.Caught up with tending the garden.

I've rediscovered several things already mentioned: starting going for long walks, not necessarily with a route in mind, just reaching a fork and turning one way or the other on a whim. I've read about 20+ books, mostly about undercover operations in NI during The Troubles, some very dark stuff, but also a few more light-hearted 'holiday' books. We too have fallen back in love with our home having cleared the loft of camping stuff and we now how my wife's office up there as she continues to WFH, but it's also a bit of a den really: tv,rowing machine, drum kit, great place to chill out watching the footy for example. We've also spent more time in the garden, esp on Fri and Sat nights, music on, firepit, few beers and that it turn has meant we've listened to more music and explored some new artists

Nothing specific, but enjoyed/am enjoying the slower pace of life, and the kids have enjoyed the opportunity to be more creative with their play, spending a lot more time being imaginative. Not that we didn't make the effort before, but we justy had much more time to do it recently.
I don't think you can underestimate how much the weather helped though. Just milling around in the summer is a whole different ball game to being stuck inside the house continuously.

Interesting comments. Just made me wonder about what we all do etc in normal times. Everyone was at home (at least here in New York) so I felt like there was no sense of 'missing out' , but now things are getting somewhat back to normal ( at least for now) , there's that creeping rush to run around again.
Does anyone thing they'll be able to maintain some of things that they started to do/re-discover?

Yes, same set-up in the winter will be a whole new kettle of fish.

Just enjoyed going for a wander, instead of walking for a purpose. Found loads of old waggonways and paths nearby when I downloaded the OS app and found all the rights of way.

I've read voraciously too, really enjoyed wading through books.
Can you still buy actual maps?

Me & the wife 'rediscovered' our true love of arguing over anything & everything .............. 15 years we've been together and I can honestly say that we've had more barneys in the last 4-5 months than in the rest of the time we've had together.

I've genuinely never felt so busy work-wise. Am WFH and am still doing 9:30am until well after 6pm most days. It's saved me from boredom though. I still have 5 weeks holiday to take before the end of the year, can't see the point sitting around doing nothing.

Have been clocking up the off-road miles on my mountain bike in the evening and weekends though which I've not been bothered to do for ages until lockdown.

I’ve done lots of jigsaws, even had two made with my artwork images on them - they were a challenge but different to your normal jigsaws. Always enjoyed jigsaws but been doing a lot more. I also got my grandmas Bero book out and baked cakes we made when we were little. I think it’s been the nostalgia things that we have all turned back to. Maybe because the future was looking uncertain we all went back into our past.
