Adam Clayton

He stopped making himself available for one game as a consequence of a serious family issue. Then he was told to find a new club. After the game he has posted on his personal social media account a family photo. What crime has he committed?

Warnock said he asked him if he can play. Where have you got that he was asked to find a new club from?

Has been a great servant to the club but could no longer produce to anything like the levels he previously had or the levels needed to be where we want to be, not an ideal end to his time here but the time had come to go our separate ways, maybe a new challenge will revitalise his career and we can replace him with a player who offers what Clayton did when he first arrived at the club.

He’s been below average for at least two years, probably longer. One of a few who regressed massively after being found out in the premier league.

Real shame that both Clayton and Ayala have probably tarnished their reputations with their behaviour. I'd say Clayton has probably been miffed about not playing since Warnock took over but it's still no excuse for him making himself unavailable to play.

On the other hand, it just exemplifies what a brilliant professional George Friend is. A true Boro legend.

I really hope he is offered a coaching role, but if he chooses to continue his playing career elsewhere I can only wish him the best of luck,

Again, what behaviour exactly? What crime has he committed? Going on holiday? Taking a photo with his family? Completing his contractual obligations?

Not sure what Clayton has done wrong here. Ayala is an **** for the way he acted.

What happened is this: he played on at risk after his contract ended and wanted to continue to do so. A serious family matter prevented him appearing in the last game. Before this game the club told him to find another club and so off he went. Hardly something that he can be criticised for.

I like Clayton, always have, but If his tweet was indeed a reference to Millwall, it was unprofessional in his timing. Warnock clearly wanted him in his squad but Clayton seemingly booked a holiday somewhere. I fully accept the club were releasing him, but he agreed to play on so should have waited till season end before jetting off. It does not sit well unless the club told him before Cardiff he would not be needed. If that was the case fair enough, but the tweet was disrespectful if indeed Millwall was the correct interpretation, we’ll see.
He has my thanks nonetheless

Nothing has gone on. He just isn’t good enough anymore. It wasn’t just Warnock, he was in and out for a while before that.

I could be wrong but it just seems like there's more to it.

If he'd refused to play or been bounced out the club I would have thought Warnock would have just said so. He was up front with the press about conversations with Shotton and Gestede. Why not with Clayton too, why the whole 'family reasons' comment last game and talk of speaking to him about tonight's match.

Just seems like there's more to it that we don't know about.

If it's true re the family issue then I take back what I said. I wasn't aware of it.

People aren't interested in facts Adi

You are right he hasnt committed a crime. Just an unnecessary post in my opinion . Whilst it is a personal Insta page it is public and he knows very well that it is followed and read by hundreds of supporters.

That doesn't fit with him jetting off on holiday after being requested to play.
Unless he booked a holiday in the last 4 days.

Anyway, Boro finished the season in style lets enjoy that instead of bickering over an ex player and focus on our CHAMPIONSHIP future :p

Good point, also does it mean we can now finally bin these awful Warnock avatars? After what he's done for the club I'm massively grateful but that doesn't extend to staring at his mush on every other post I read on here for evermore!
