53,000+The East End terrace looks immense, how many did it hold before seats were put in for the 66 World Cup? Not sure I’ve ever seen any pictures of it full of spectators before seating and the roof going on.
It was extended at the back in the late 40s. Looks like the south east has been done and they are doing the section behind the goalGreat I photo. Thanks for posting.
East end terrace looks like new concrete
Think it says 1948. Most of the bombing was along the river area. South Bank fc got a bomb in the centre spotYou say 1940s - was this after WWII? If so look at the lack of bomb damage. It always intrigues me how little bombing there was in Middlesbrough compared to Hull.
So guessing as capacity post 66 was 42000. The old East End Terrace must have held about 16000?53,000+
Easily(they were still allowing 6k away fans in the Clive road corner alone in the early 80s).So guessing as capacity post 66 was 42000. The old East End Terrace must have held about 16000?
The best bit was nicking over the wall from the boys end into the "bob" end.So guessing as capacity post 66 was 42000. The old East End Terrace must have held about 16000?
Our train station has never recovered from the direct hit.You say 1940s - was this after WWII? If so look at the lack of bomb damage. It always intrigues me how little bombing there was in Middlesbrough compared to Hull.
