If there wasn't any sort of points system we would have the situation of the 2014 Play Off Final when any Tom, d*ck, or Harry sitting at home who had never been to game that season could order 3 tickets and get them over fans who had been the half the games that season home and away. The ordering system kept crashing or people devices did, people were online for over 6 hours queuing. Hundreds got into the hands of touts (now the touts have specialist software to beat ordinary fans to tickets). Many dedicated fans doing normal jobs hadn't a chance.
Or the UEFA Final when all Season ticket holders were put into a lottery draw for tickets - is that fairer than a priority points system?
