Gary Lineker being reined in

What a massive big head. Nothing to do with politics or the boycott, that's not what I'm talking about, it's the idea that football fans can only enjoy watching football if some big-headed prat who thinks he knows everything it spouting off in the background.

My mother can't hear the commentators so she asks me to tell her if they say anything interesting. I can go 90 minutes and say nothing.

I thought they were only allowed to show limited minutes of football highlights from SKY? Looks like MOTD will be on for about 30 minutes tomorrow. Probably followed by the film “All the President’s Men”.
Or "Escape To Victory" (y)

Did you just argue with yourself?

Heres a question:
The Commercial platforms must be licking their lips at the implosion of BBC at the moment.
Would it be likely they will invite Lineker, et al, to host their own "MOTD" with a slightly different format?
It would certainly interest advertisers and ,say, SKY - they could charge premium rates for the breaks.
Gary Neville does well enough - and he doesnt hold back.

I think this possibly the most stupid think a national broadcaster has done ever. Maybe worse but am struggling. If it was a commercial broadcast they would be a dead duck. Is there anyone at the bbc with a brain?

You really are clutching at straws, any natural history programme the BBC produces with David Attenborough is easily sold to the four corners of the globe and will be prime time in the UK without any shadow of a doubt.
So why is episode 6 only going to be shown on iPlayer? Do you think it’s because the Blue t*ts are too promiscuous or the Stags c*cks are too big?
So you think making and selling this show to the four corners of the globe (voluntarily) and putting it on the most used on demand service in the UK somehow constitutes censorship?

We must have different definitions of censorship.

Of course not, they are run by the Tory party, and we all no none of them have the brains to think for themselves.

Nope. Just saying that commentators can speak for 90 minutes non-stop and say nothing worth repeating. (I dare say I could do that myself as well, but I choose to remain silent and be thought a fool ... )

One of the commentators on the Blackburn game - was it Rachel Brown? made the point several times that if Blackburn wanted to get something from the game, they needed to score sooner rather than later. And various other points of equal depth. She was a waste of my eardrums.

Sorry to go off topic.

I think we all know they spout sh1te but this isn't about that, this is a lot bigger than that and is about censorship. If you are happy with people being censored, you have come to the wrong place.

I cannot comprehend why Richard sharp would do this it is beyond idiotic. Is he going to suspend alan sugar , Laura Kuenssberg or Fiona Bruce especially in the position he is surely his position untenable. To be fair plenty of right wing journalists are sticking up for lineker

BBC will not broadcast Attenborough episode over fear of rightwing backlash

Exclusive: Decision to make episode about natural destruction available only on iPlayer angers programme-makers
[Extract]

The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of David Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press, the Guardian has been told.
The decision has angered the programme-makers and some insiders at the BBC, who fear the corporation has bowed to pressure from lobbying groups with “dinosaurian ways”.

The revelation about Attenborough’s programme comes at the end of a week in which another broadcaster, Gary Lineker, has been condemned by Conservative ministers for his criticism of the government’s immigration bill.
The fresh row focuses on Wild Isles, a highly anticipated new series looking at the beauty of nature in the British Isles, which will begin broadcasting on Sunday.
Narrated by David Attenborough, it is expected to be a hit, with five episodes scheduled to go out in primetime slots on BBC One.
A sixth episode has also been filmed, which is understood to be a stark look at the losses of nature in the UK and what has caused the declines. It is also understood to include some examples of rewilding, a concept that has been controversial in some rightwing circles.m

Sharp won’t even be involved. Contrary to the way it’s been portrayed recently he is not responsible for the day to day running of the BBC. He SHOULD resign however, but only the government can sack him.
