Jake Paul v Tommy Fury

I've been to White collar events where reasonably experienced amateurs have been matched with each other, its not always complete novices.

I think the point was that its a very low standard and nowhere near ppv worthy for most boxing purists.
Shhh you’ve just broke the first rule…. 🤫

This whole show has felt like a panto, the interviews during fights, the judging, the reffing, the commentating. Not a good spectacle for boxing.

It got huge interest from a large non boxing crowd.

And that's the heart of the matter isn't it? There are more people interested in the personalities. But we see that all the time.

People watch strictly come dancing, not because they're particularly into ball room dancing, but because they're interested in the celebrities. Same with any celeb competition; no one cares that it's not a particularly high standard

Back in 2012, there was considerable interest in whether Usain Bolt would beat Mo Farrah over400m: both would have been easily beaten by Kirani James, but no one cared about him, or top class athletics, just the people doing it?

Why would boxing be different?

I got sucked in and streamed it for the Kangeroo V Man type car crash slow rive by.

Feel sorry for the suckers that paid for it.

It was just appalling.

I don't really class it as boxing, more like a circus. If people want to watch it and it makes money then fair play to them.

I have an IPTV sub so it didn't cost me anything. Can't believe anyone is daft enough to pay for it. Dreadfully poor standard.

Fury win comfortably but he is nowhere near being a decent boxer. If there was any justice that would be the last we hear of either of them.

Don't blame them though. Daft celebrities making a fortune. If there is interest and people are paying them then why not. Boxing is a stupid sport anyway. It's only about money. Might as well make money fighting other bums instead of getting battered by real boxers.

Social media has created these ego driven entities with have vast numbers of followers who believe they can do anything, so they do. They can do all sorts of side deals on advertising for existing products and promoting their own wares so why wouldn't they? It's a massive circus as you say, but I bet JP has probably made more money outsiide of the ring tonight than he would have inside.

Fair play for the money they made 👏. But they can't class it as professional boxing, it's basically world boxing entertainment .

There's a local cruiserweight coming up the ranks called Michael Webster and he'd have beaten the pair of them together. Really is an affront to the meritocracy of sport that a very poor professional and someone 13 year olds follow on YouTube are given such massive coverage.
