What’s the boards views on the Man City goalkeeper joining us for a season ?

musr admit I know very little about the lad ,
what are his strengths and weaknesses?

personally I’d rather us sign a keeper on a permanent deal rather one that won’t be here for next season , where we’re going to be in the same boat at needing a no1 .

City (pep) gave him a 4 year contract and he's been City's No2. Oh and USA No1. That's all I'm going off.

He's hardly had a kick at City. It's understandable as he's behind Ederson. I wouldn't worry about his mistake in the cup. The best keepers still make mistakes.

His main strength for us will be the world cup coming up.
He's currently #1, but Arsenal just signed Matt Turner for £5 million who looked really good in the MLS last season.
I think Zach Steffan will be worried about losing his place so close to the WC and not having much game time last year.
He seems like he's passionate and wants to play... so he'll need to perform here.

I also think Pep's pretty smart in the club he's chosen to send him out to - He's openly rated him very highly, and he'll have sent him out to a top championship club knowing it's his best chance of doing well, and then keeping his #1 spot for the US. It's a win win win for everyone involved.

Probably a lot more suited to our need for a sweeper keeper. Lumley actually did reasonably well in that role despite being unsuitable for it in all honesty.
Playing week in and week out will improve his game, I just hope if he has a shaky start that the fans don't get on his back straight away. Of all players, keepers need the fans support the most as their game can easily go to pot if their confidence gets knocked constantly.

Lumley actually did pretty well in the sweeper role......apart from the times he legged it 40 yards out of his box and missed the ball completely......still, there was no harm done....🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Is the lad a shouter , one who plays f*** if defenders aren’t doing their job etc….
an organiser, or the quiet type

Hence why I said "reasonably well" and not extremely well. I also said he was not ideally suited to the role as well. Both reasonable comments in my opinion.
Who knows how many attacks would have resulted in goals if he hadn't successfully come out of his area. Given our relatively good defensive record I'd say it is fair to say he was part of that, even with the obvious and costly errors that he made.
I hate to be argumentative, but it would be nice if posters replied to the full content of the post.

If we go up, and he does well , we will buy him off City.
If we go up, and he does well……we will be in the premiership needing a no1 who hasn’t gelled or got playing time with the team that face premiership quality .

all in all I think it’s a poor decision taking the lad on loan as our main no1 goalkeeper 😔

god I wish I didn’t always worry about our club

USA number 1 - he must be an improvement on the situation last season where goal keeping was a bit of a weakness for us - Hull and QPR games poor keepers probably cost us 5 points at least.

Apologies, I was being facetious.

Lumley - apart from one or two heart stopping moments - was a good sweeper/keeper, can't deny him that. Would actually say he was better than average.

I beleive he had the best shots saved stats when he was playing in Berlin, so there's some ability there

I would like to disagree but I felt when he was dropped we struggled to create chances which might have been a coincidence, maybe the stattos could blow that theory out of the water.
