Zack Steffen.

He made some good saves. But you can see from his distribution why carrick likes him. The ball over the top for archer to run on to was excellent. Another ball out to our right was great too. I don’t think Roberts has that in his locker.
 
I think I'm his biggest fan, I constantly come on here and defend him if he's not so good, forever getting angry at the commentors on Bernie's live stream and I feel vindicated when he performs like that.

I think he's been a great signing and a massive reason we are where we are
 
He's improved in a few areas. The Modfather has clearly been working on him claiming crosses as he's confidently coming and catching things now to take the pressure off the defence, as opposed to the slightly nervous punching when he first arrived.

I also agree his distribution is really good and those who complain he gives them kittens when delaying on the ball at the back, it's a tactic to draw out the opposition and most of the time it's executed perfectly. Carrick has shouted to Steffen and applauded him a few times this season when him sucking in the opposition strikers and starting off an attack has come off, even if we haven't scored, so he's clearly playing to orders. The odd dodgy one is to be expected as it's a risk v reward strategy. He gets some stick but he's decent keeper and a big part of how we play under Carrick.

Definitely has the odd rick in him, but he more than makes up for it with what he offers us.

He's improved over the season too, obviously years of rarely featuring will take a while to shake off.
 
The sooner people get used to having Steffen or a Steffen-like keeper between the sticks the better. He's intrinsic to the way we play.
In my mind, part of the reason why we seem able to shrug off defeats so easily is because we don't try and fix what isn't broken. We could do what most mangers do and make tweaks to the formation or personnel and just compound things. We just trust the lads to go out and outplay and outscore the opposition like they are so adept at doing.
Just look at the Sheffield United forum tonight and they are full of solutions to their problems if you want a reminder of what this place used to be like after a defeat.
Carrick knows what we can do and he sends the lads out with the confidence to do it. If Carrick wants Steffen then that is all that matters.
