YouTube has become completely unwatchable

Sign up for YouTube Premium with a VPN. Plenty of guides online. Costs about £1.30 per month and it includes YouTube Music which is the same as Spotify. I watch a lot of YouTube. I couldn't go back to not having premium.
 
It’s the algorithm for me that’s doing my head in.

I watched one 9/11 survivor podcast earlier this week and now I’m being bombarded with stuff about it. Same with getting loads of other podcasts from the likes of Joe Rogan, Lex Fridman etc I’m just not interested in.

Why do you sign up with a VPN?

I watched a doc on the titanic during the search for the submersible and as you say after that it was wall to wall disaster docs how did this plane crash or how did flight x fall from the sky… it’s a good job I’m not a nervous flyer as this was my time line at Schiphol before my flight.. lol

Plenty of ad blockers for youtube. Or programs if you are watching on Android TV (and easily sideloaded onto a Firestick) - programs such as SmartTube (https://smarttubeapp.github.io/ ) or ios programs such as Friendly Streaming / Friendly Browser. Not watched a Youtube advert on my own devices in years.
 
I have an adblocker on my Firefox browser. Works all of the time though there are occasions that YouTube struggles to start, I assume linked to that.

Unfortunately I also watch it on my Xbox on the big TV, and that is riddled with them. I did watch one from the NFL of all people the other day. It started with a poll, which always makes me think that there might not be adverts, but there was one within six seconds of the start of the video.
