Your team for tomorrow

Dieng

VDB
Fry
Mcnair
Bangura

Barlaser
Hackney

Jones
Crooks
Greenwood

Coburn

I thought Barlaser looked bright when he came on on sat. Plus Sat to Tues might a bit much for Howson… especially with dirty Leeds coming up at the weekend
Barlaser has been unlucky I reckon, our run we went on was when he was in the team. Howson comes back in and we're hit and miss. Jones needs a rocket up his proverbial it's such a shame Forss is still out.

Bit thin on the ground, but still got Greenwood, Rogers, Silvera, Lath and Anfernee DS.
Carrick says this lot try to get people in the box, aggressive off the ball and pile people forward, so the defence better be on its best behaviour. No flip-ups like at Plymouth an Bristol an we could be buried.

According to Dom Shaw today, Boro have played 5 out the top nine teams and won 4 - so thats encouraging(y)

Freshen up a little, although injuries make it difficult, I’d like to see Jones taken out for a few games, but I’m not keen on those available to step in.

I wonder how far Clark is away from being fit enough to start?

I'd start Rodgers with Greenwood out on Saturday. Give him some game time as he's looked good in the cup etc. Would be tempted to start Barlaser also, as Preston may sit in. He looks good when we dominate possession, but can be too slow and lose possession when we're away from home. Save Howson for Leeds maybe, where we'll need his experience.

I'd give Silvera a game, he looked bright on Saturday. Let's use the squad. Rogers / Silvera can play on Sat when Greenwood is out.

Barlaser and Coburn back in as well.

Interesting the amount of teams picking Dijksteel over Rav.

Whilst Rav has been very good there, he is clearly not a full back and teams have been targeting him and clearly see him as a weak link who can be got at by a tricky winger with pace. Nevertheless I'm not sure Preston is the game to drop him out for. They seem to get the ball forward early and into the box and I think his extra height and physicality might be useful against Preston. However, Carrick knows best and I'll get behind whoever wears the shirt.

I think most of the team pretty much picks itself at the moment and I agree if Coburn is fit to play then he comes back into start. I agree with the posters who say we look better with him up top and Latte Lath is better as an impact sub getting at tired legs.

Howson or Barlaser is the main debate for me tonight. Either, we go with Barlaser on the basis that we'll need Howson's experience against Leeds, or start Howson but sub him regardless after 60 mins to protect him for Saturday. Either option is fine by me, but we need Howson for Leeds more than tonight in my view.

Cant argue with most of that!

Regardless of personnel or tactics/formations we need to address our mentality regarding defending, especially when we play teams in the lower half of the table/ teams we would "expect" to beat.

Some of the goals we have conceded in these games have been farcical. Far, far, too easy for players to step onto the ball and smash one in from 20-25 yards with ZERO pressure on the ball.

One of my friends mentioned in our group chat on Saturday about the "amount of worldies" we have had scored against us. Championship level players are going to score all day if we keep giving them time and space.

Barlaser and Howson played half of the games each when we went on that run. I'd stick with Howson personally. Barlaser isn't going to help our defensive frailties. It's a position we need to improve in though.
O'Brien will hopefully be available in the New Year.

I would play

Dieng

Dijk - Fry - McNair - RVB

Howson - Hackney

Issiah - Crooks - Greenwood

Coburn

But it's more down to lack of options than anything else. I don't think Bangura has done anything wrong but I would like to leave RVB in the team. The defence already looks frail and I think it looks even weaker without RVB.

Issiah should be rotated but there's nobody in the squad who I am thinking could make a difference at the moment.

Lath didn't do enough last week to keep himself in the team in front of Josh.

Crooks has to play because we need his goal threat.

We are desperate for McGree and Forss to get themselves back in contention and provide some options for us.

I think the team picks itself, same as it has for most recent weeks.

Dieng
RVDB - Fry - McNair - Engel
Howson - Hackney
Jones - Crooks - Greenwood
Coburn

I would like to see Rogers brought on earlier though - 17 mins vs Bristol and 11 mins vs Plymouth wasn't enough - He did much better when he was brought on with 20+ vs. Leicester.

Won't happen, but I'd like to see Howson/Crooks subbed for Barlasar/Rogers at half time.
