Your most obscure Boro 11

I remember the Barnsley away game, absolutely torrential rain in an uncovered terrace. We bought ponchos outside the ground, which were bin bags with holes cut in, for a pound.
Anyway Viv was the best player on the pitch.

Must have been strange for him going there as a player, as he'd previously been their manager.

Ben Hutchinson

Scored at Man City away on his debut and did nothing after that.
Celtic 'stole' him from us shortly after that.
He actually played in the Champions League for them against Man Utd. But that was about it.
Played for a handful of random teams then disappeared in his mid-twenties (in footballing terms, not literally I don't think).

I'd just like to point out that we've listed a load of goalkeepers on here but none of them... i repeat NONE OF THEM... are Danny Coyne. :)

I don't think obscure is exactly the same as awful, is it?

Ok, there's a large overlap: if they were good, they'd play more and be better known, right?

Some of these were decent players: Smith, Zuculini, Ogbeche, Fabio all did decent jobs when they played. They were all just stopgaps and better players came back in.

Others, like Lee Dong Gook were so notoriously bad they're not obscure.

Exactly, some people really need to google what obscure means.

God how shyte was he. At least Martin Cranie tried a leg.

There’s another one… Martin Cranie!
RVLP now at Almere City in the Eredivisie, would have been to see them yesterday if it wasn't for an early flight.

Moukoudi at AEK Athens these days I think.

I can while away hours looking up where these obscure players ended up on Wiki :)
