Yesterdays ref

Poor , bottled what was a penalty and possible red card.Didn’t get to grips with their time wasting and failed to punish a couple of their players for blatant fouls.

I was always think people saying refs are poor have unconscious bias about boro, it normally stems from a chip on their shoulder mentality.

The new time wasting tactic of going down till the ref stops the game and then not having treatment so they don’t have to go off the pitch is a joke. He fell foul of this possibly 4 times.
If a ref has to stop the game for someone who is supposedly injured then they should be forced to leave the field of play wether they have treatment or not.

Very good point, he added an extra minute on in reality, most matches last season got 5 minutes extra.

Obviously a ref who doesn’t believe in all that counting the minutes nonsense, if a team has the ability to time-waste properly then it’s just professional isn’t it and they should be rewarded for it.

I thought he was better than average. Should have booked Forss for the dive for me and got his yellow out for them towards the end for one or two bits of time wasting but they’re all marginal calls. Handled the pretend injuries quite well, getting them up quickly, adding time, and noticed him stopping play when he could use the new drop ball law to give it back to us a couple of times too. We’ll get a lot worse in this league.

Thought we were just a bit too soft at times - Silvera in particular was going down too easily and needed to be stronger at times.

I got the feeling that he didn’t want Warnock barking down his ear, so gave them all the 50/50 decisions. I was amazed that NW actually behaved himself, and it was Ronnie Jessop who ended up in the book.
