He got stuck in traffic on the outlap and didn't have time to prepare his tyres. Lots of cars jostling for position.

Very disappointing race and outcome. As one of the commentators said, Lewis clearly outperformed the car in order to get pole. The car was way off the racing pace of Red Bull and McClaren today. Mercedes pit crew are consistently 1/2 a second plus slower than Red Bull and McClaren when pitting, it all makes a difference.
