If we want to improve the ball playing ability moving forwards rather than just hoof it ball, these are the players I would be looking at:
Gustavo Hamer (midfielder from Coventry) 24 year old Dutch. Plays anywhere in the middle, a number 8 role is best. Would be a better Saville. He's a better passer, and better defensively. Also younger and probably on much less wages
Callum O'Hare 22 year old attacking midfielder. Can play 10, or on either wing. 6 assists and a couple of goals in a poor side. He needs to work on his finishing, but he's a good ball carrier, hard working. Would be a great backup to Tav centrally, and a challenge to NML (assuming we offer him a contract) on the right. Wouldn't be expensive wages.
Mark Yates from Forest, long term replacement for Howson. Got a great engine, reminds me of slightly lankier Mustoe
Ben Brereton, he's a Warnock type. 6 foot 1, powerful, still only 21 but seems to have been around years. Scores a goal every 5 starts but has played largely as a winger for the last 2 years even though he is primarily a CF. Can hold the ball up as a CF, or dribble at people as a left winger. Good option to replace Bolasie, and, again should be far cheaper. Blackburn have over spent so will need to sell, I'm sure they'd prefer to lose him rather than Armstrong.
Josh Koroma, Huddersfield need to rebuild so he might be available. Pacey, can play anywhere across the front. Has a high number of shots per game.
Mikkel Forss - if Brentford go up he could be available, either permanent or loan. Again, mobile and not scared to shoot. Young, lots of room to improve.
Alex Palmer (West Brom on loan at Lincoln) / Jack Stevens (Oxford) young keepers with plenty of experience.
There are loads of decent youngsters out there
