Wouldn't it be nice to hear from Gibson...

Once in a while? After our disastrous start to the campaign, 2 points from a possible 21, it would be nice to hear from the chairman for once. If Carrick has his full backing then come out and say so to take a bit of the pressure off Carrick. Even if the message came from Kieran Scott.

As always, there is complete silence from behind the scenes even though our poor start is largely down to Gibson, Scott etc. I'm not saying Carrick is blameless as his team selections have been baffling in recent weeks but he's certainly not the main reason for our shocking start to this season.
Carrick Fingers isn’t cutting it

Keiran Scott could easily explain our recruitment and the difficulties we are faceing.

I think I might be able to work out a way to put some of your questions to Steve Gibson.
Would that be somerhing that would be worthwhile do you think?

If they wanna save whatever relationship they have with the fans and don't want to see tennis balls being thrown on the pitch on the 86th minute I'd say yes.

What would he say that would make fans happy?

As said above, I’d like to hear from Kieran Scott first.
We are going through manager's like there's no tomorrow and unless results improve it wouldn't surprise me if Carrick is the next one to be given the bullet. Sadly, Carrick will be the one who gets the sacked in the morning chants from the fans but the club is so poorly ran behind the scenes. Lets be honest, these are all Kieran Scott's signings and his job is to identify talent from across the world that can cut it in this league. Based on this season so far, he is failing miserably.

If Scott believes these players just need time to gel then he should come out and say so and announce that Carrick has his/Gibson's full backing and will be given time to turn it around. It would ease some of the pressure off Carrick and at least everyone would know where we stand.

All these people wanting Gibson to speak out, to 'ease the pressure' on Carrick, but it would do the exact opposite and ramp up the pressure. Everyone knows of the dreaded 'vote of confidence', public backing which usually leads to the sack within a matter of weeks. Everyone in the football world would be saying Carrick was toast if Gibson came out and spoke right now.

I do think we need to hear more from the club but now isn't the best time and like others have said, I'd probably rather hear more from Kieran Scott. Presumably he's more involved than anyone in decisions made day to day and simply reports back to Gibson given he's Director of Football.

The only time I want to hear from the owner of our football club is when he decides to pack it all in.

Beyond that he has employed others to talk about what`s going on with the playing and management staff.

Any supercilious fan that likes to place Mr Gibson on a pedestal and appear to feel he is beyond any form of criticism (which begs a question in itself) needs to first understand that any sticks used to beat him with will likely have been whittled by the man himself.

Do I want to hear from him? No. Why? Because I want the truth to play out. I don’t want to hear words of comfort, words will not resolve the situation the club have allowed to be created. I want action, hard work, improvement on the pitch, and accountability owned for mistakes.

At the season end, I would like the Head Coach and Head of Football to undertake to provide a season end interview about the season past, what was positive and what worked less well and what their plan and strategy will be moving forward to bring about improvements that fans can look forward to. If either were sacked and not in post then either the CEO or owner to be involved instead.

I dont think thats too much to ask tbh.

I dont want to hear from Gibson at all. I just need to know that the ongoing losses will be supported within his wider business empire

I only want to hear from Bausor regarding the finances. Although when the club did this in the summer I'm pretty sure it bypassed the huge majority who missed gems like revenue barely covering operating costs and wondered why ticket prices went up up in a world of FFP.

I do want to hear a seasons summary though from the football side, squad size, growth of analytics team etc. Just want to connect a bit with what the mbition is nd what they think the path to getting there is

I think it might be worth asking him why he thinks we’ve gone through 11 permanent managers in 14 years (could soon be 12?), and yet are further away from being established in the PL than we have been since liquidation.

He’s always stopped short of saying “we’re skint” in the past, but if he could maybe just admit that he doesn’t want (or have the means) to spend much on the club anymore that would at least be some kind of openness.

I can only speak for myself, I don’t see what would be gained. The club will be acutely aware of fan reaction from the various social media platforms it has a relationship with including this one.

Platitudes are not what we need, honest context that underpins the bigger decisions, such as recruitment (on and off the pitch). I genuinely think an annual appraisal of the season past and a debate about plans for the season ahead would be a positive move. I understand the club won’t want to be put in a situation where it ends up hoisted by its own petard, but a framework for self appraisal and future progression with a little realism from the Head Coach and Head of Football is something the club will do in great detail internally anyway. I am sure a less detailed but informative format could be undertaken by the club itself to inform its fanbase and be seen to be accountable and interactive toward its fanbase.

The fans forum is there for services and facilities which is fine, but in truth we are likely all more interested in the team, its performance and the plan for improvement and decision making in terms of recruitment, performance and accountability for it. Not to have a direct say so much as an understanding, An end of season appraisal and a nod to the future in some way is something we all do on here and praise or criticise as we see fit. If we had club context toward some things (from Head Coach and Head of Football) it might lead to a greater understanding from fans, create positive debate an reduce cynicism.

He will want only questions raised that he has seen and deemed acceptable, in a sanitised environment where he is in complete control.
He will want approved attendees who are supporters of himself or who he can shout down.
He will want output that is controlled.

I have loads of time for you Rob, but I think you feel honoured to be allowed to talk to him. Questions will be soft or allowed to be discounted too easily.

So, a sanitised broadcast from Gibson would do absolutely nothing for me.
The questions Carrick gets at press conferences don't uncover anything. It's not by coincidence.

I'd rather we heard from Kieran Scott. He is the Head of Football. If anyone within the club should answer questions about the football side of MFC then it should be him.

It is not just the pure football side that should be challenged. The football and the finances can't be so easily split.

Am offering to put questions to Steve Gibson and these include finances and football. Recruitment, managers, debt and equity etc.
If that's an option Rob then it might be worth starting a thread allowing people to send their questions over. I'd imagine there will be quite a few!
