I don't really understand the argument that is being made here. Holding a team to a draw gives smaller teams a much better chance to progress as penalties massively lowers the skill gap, and you are more likely to fluke a win over the course of 90 or 120 minutes than you are over 180 or 210. Witness our game against Utd at old trafford a couple of years ago and compare it to our 180 against Chelsea in the league cup last year.
More chance you'll get bigger teams putting out a proper line up without the risk of an extra match also. Someone please tell Michael Carrick this.
How does getting less money but a bigger chance to win spoil "the magic of the cup". I think this is a good change. The cup should be about small teams knocking out big teams not money.
