Would a fit Ayala made any difference?

Think he'd have made a slight difference but the way we've been set up from back to front has been wrong today.

He could be as fit as a lop (and he probably is, actually) but he would make no effort whatsoever and his attitude would stink.

He'd have protected Howson as McNair wasn't doing that. I can't believe Woodgate allowed our right side to be so exposed. After Spence beat his man once, they had two or three players on him straight away. Tactically we are inept and have very few basic footballing skills to compensate.

It's basic things, such as players not going with their runners off the ball. It's been a problem all season.

For the first goal, Brewster came deep for the ball, Shotton followed him and ended up being left in no mans land. Clayton at first recognised the danger and followed Brewster but for some reason, once they got into the box he decided to leave him and Brewster ended up scoring.

I don't know if that's down to players being tactically inept, the coaching team not working on this on the training pitch or a combination of both.

No, the entire system and shape was incorrect. The defence would've been exposed the same with Ayala in it.

Swansea gave us very little room near their goal - we were the opposite in the first half and wide open a lot of time. Naïve, poor judgement and for this level a lack of intensity. Better in the second half, all round, but it was too late.
