Worn Juninho Shirt

There seems to have been a lot of research done to verify the exact game that Juninho wore this shirt. However, it’s an XL and he was 5’5”. How would Juninho ever have worn an XL size shirt? Am I missing something?

Ridiculously priced for a nothing game, I am pretty sure his Cup Final shirt went for a fraction of that. I'd be very wary of that seller, He often lists standard shirts which have been printed up afterwards and his wording is very misleading. Although he doesn't claim they are a legitimate match shirt the descriptions can easily be read wrong from somebody who is newer to shirt collecting. That being said the shirt in question does look like the real thing with the wonky letters etc. Most players in that era wore massive shirts, it wasn't the trend to wear skin tight. Stewart Downing's shirt when we beat Roma away was a XXXL and if you look back at pictures you can see it hanging off him.

The spacing between the bottom of the I and N doesn‘t match the supposed evidential match images.
Buyer beware…

Someone should bring this to the attention of Dave French as he is named several times as the supplier of the shirt.

The language used suggests fraud to me

Dave French was the masseur at Boro for a number of years and is selling lots of shirts and memorabilia on facebook. I don't think this is him, or genuine.

I can tell you depending on season , Juninho wore M, L, XL and even XXL.

Sounds crazy i know , heres most of the match worn kit sizes by year home and away unless stated

95/96 All players wore XL apart from branco xxxl
96/97 Min player size is XL , Majrity are XXL
97/98 Most XL , Long sleeved all XXL 1st team
98/99 All XXL
99/00 All XXL ( But some shirts later in the season were more true to size in Home matchworn, key is the level of curve in the nameset. All matchworn away shirts are XXL and the majority were long sleeved.)

Juninho wore Medium and Large in this season (99/00)

I can go on if anyone interested, but its not until around 09/10 when players really started to specify their own size.

There are the odd anomaly with some players asking for specific sizes , but its quite rare pre 2009.

Player shirts pre 2006 are much easier to authenticate , i wont give it away, but if anyone would like any advice , please dm me here or on X formerly twitter. i will happily help any fellow boro fan .

As for the shirt in question, yes it is way way over priced , but if thats what the lad values it at then thats up to him.

As for its authenticity , well it looks very good , would need the shirt in hand to verify its real.

correct, 04/05 shirts had an awful fit to the point most players had xxl or xxxl, the cut around the pits if youve ever wore one is just wrong. Made them look like they were wearing long sleeves :).

The blue shirt was also a horrible shirt to wear, like wearing a jumper it was that hot

What you trying to say about Branco?
😂

Despite that, I really can’t see how it can be the shirt in the photographs as the letters do not seem to be laid out in the same way.
I agree 100% from the photos, would need it in hand to confirm it . heres a side by side comparison of the area , thats suspect. To be honest i wont accuse this of not being genuine unless i have had it in hand. But it looks off compared to the picture. left is the getty image v right the shirt listed. It could just be the photo

Don’t players usually wear two shirts in a game? It could be the other shirt to be fair.
