I started a new job 3 days ago, yesterday I was offered a new job on higher pay and closer to where I’ll be living.

I’m going to take it and hand my notice in today. I’ve never quit a job so soon into starting it before and I can’t really find any information on what the craic is with pay etc.

The general consensus from chats I’ve had with mates is that they’re going to ask me to leave immediately, rather than have me working the two weeks.

Anyone had any experience with this? Do I still get paid for the notice period if they ask me to leave early?

You will being in your probationary period with your current employer I would think so I guess they will just ask you to leave immediately and they don’t have to pay any notice period

It depends what is in his contract to be fair.
All my PAYE salaried contracts have always stated 1 week notice in my Probationary period and 4 week notice outside that period

I was on the other side of the fence a few years back - a new employee got a better offer during her first week with us and left immediately. A week later, 3 or 4 days into her new job, she called to say she’d made a mistake and would prefer to come back to work for us. You can guess what our reaction to that was! 😁
