Window slams shut !

No surprise to me that no more signings arrived in this particular window.
Assuming Roberts is confirmed soon I don’t think we can really complain.

We have all been drilled now into the ‘Boro are skint’ mindset so it wouldn’t be morally right if Boro all of a sudden pulled a £5m signing out of the hat.

By continuing the skint stance Boro have set themselves up for anything that might be offered in way of help from government and or the premier league in hand outs if it ever happens.

Anyway if no more players come in on this particular window, there is always January, only couple of months away less international breaks.

We will need a lot of luck though to get there without injuries.

We have spent around 4mil on Morsy and Akpom. Also I imagine a decent loan fee for the keeper. That's still pretty decent outlay by champo standards in the current climate.

Just look at the Millwalls / PNE and Blackburn etc. Spent nothing.

Forest have brought in loads of loans and frees. God knows how it works with FFP🤔

I think the champo and below will go crazy on loans now. Prem clubs know what they have available so can now loan out anyone with no future. That then knocks on to champo clubs loaning to league 1 and 2 (Browne to Oxford for example).

I don't think it was ever really deadline say for anyone but the prem. Warnock did say we had looked at a signing from abroad but didn't think it would happen and clearly didn't. He also said they could review things in January reference league positions / covid etc.

The OP almost hints that there is a conspiracy to make out “we are skint”. I hope he doesn’t mean that?

95% of the EFL are skint. Fact.

So you think that Pulis, Woodgate and Warnock were telling lies about Boro’s finances.
As saud, we have been drilled into this mindset for a couple if years now.
I suggest after doing so, and no real income, we can’t all of a sudden say ‘we have won the lottery ‘
And of course, if there are handouts, Gibson isnt going to say no is ge?.

The prem clearly isn't short of money. The moment any side in the top flight goes cap in hand for a government covid bailout the footballing world's gone😕

Some clubs throwing around multiple hundreds of millions. I've read about Loftus - cheek being on 150k a week and Fulham picking up roughly half and 'significant' loan fee. Walcott on massive wages that Southampton can only pay less than half. Also many players who will now not kick a ball but clubs can't loan due to wages. So many good footballers will be sat doing nothing on 100k+ a week.

Many are average footballers being payed the earth for doing little or nothing😕.

Quite happy with the the amount we have spent so far. Think we have spent wisely, in fact I’m very happy with the business so far at this stage if we get Roberts and some more defensive cover I will be more than happy with that until January

Yesterday wasn't really deadline day was it?

I'd guess 90% of players that we have looked at are UK based. The window for market we weren't really shopping in is closed.

I dont think we have had a bad window at all if we can get Roberts in and a LB on loan, just as strong as the team that finished last season so strongly, plus its a much weaker league this season. Still think a top 6 finish is possible.

I'm sure you're right, but it's madness that this is the case. I assume if a championship club came in and said can we take Geordio Julio on loan, but we can only afford 10% of his wages it'd get turned down. But that's still a big saving on wages for the Prem club, for a player they're not going to need.

Plus it'd cover the wages of a few people from accounts (or wherever) that they otherwise would have to lay-off. It's bonkers.

Although appreciate football clubs are quite into cutting their noses off to spite their faces so also not really surprising.
