Wilder throwing players under the bus

Wilder clearly still sees himself as a PL manager. He's only interested in manoeuvring himself into a position to get back up there with little or no delay.

I bet he thought he could use Watford for his own self-benefit; talented squad, one or two outstanding individuals for this level, kind looking fixtures, quick bounce and reputation rehabilitated.

Oops.

He def thought that about us.

Was sad to see how it ended with Warnock, should have been given more respect imo, but thought Wilder coming to Boro was a bit of a coup. For 6 months it looked good, then around April ish the wheels came off.

The Burnley link. The results. The prickly media interviews. Throwing players under the bus.

Onto summer, good transfer window and I thought automatics, piece of p*ss. Never happened did it? Big fall out behind the scenes with Scott/ Bauser and this was a fight he would never, ever win. Why take the job, speak to Scott, see how the recruitment was going to be......then think he knew best and it would be sacked off for his way of doing things?? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Pretty obvious there was something wrong on the playing side, he just couldn't get a tune out of the squad. Gibson completely right to sack him and the rest is history 👍

Totally ambivalent towards him to be honest. Thought he was bigger than the club and turned out well for him didn't it?

We're in a better place, look forwards not backwards👍

He's got a great job there. He can just shrug while the ship sinks and wait for his sacking at the end of the season, without having to take any responsibility.

I bet getting beat by 'the previous manager' yesterday will have stung.
Just like Roy Hodgson last season. But he got a job again.

Ironically back at Coventry away today

could a manager be sacked twice in the same season after losing to the same team twice??

I had a look at the fans forum. They are generally blaming the players and owners so they're relatively happy about Wilder having a dig. Having seen Wilder operate, it's obvious that he's simply getting his excuses in early. If he was really trying to motivate the players to do better, he wouldn't do it that way.
It clearly is the case that the problem is the owners. The players are going through the motions because they don't believe any particular manager is going to change anything.
Wilder must have thought he was on a no-lose situation by taking a temporary position; if they improve he gets the credit and if not he walks away having tried. In reality he's doing worse than any other manager there this season which is hitting his CV even harder.
