Wilder on FA Cup

Is 100 Room actually arguing that the starting 11 team didn’t reflect the desire to win the tie? With all the issues the Club has had this week? Utter nonsense.
Think what he’s trying to say (but doesn’t say it) is because he didn’t start Jones Tav and Crooks, who were on the bench, it was a “weakened side” but given the Covid situation and lack of preperation we haven’t any idea who was training, ill or struggling for fitness. The side battled well and I thought reflected Wilder’s comments on the importance of doing well in the FA Cup.

Jones, Tav and Crooks on the bench prove that wrong.
No, not at all.

Wilder said in his interview that the medics said some who tested positive on the Thursday and Friday before New Year’s Day weren’t able to start but could play a small part in the game as they had no training. Presumably this would be the 5 who came on yesterday. And presumably Sporar and Watmore had Covid too but we’re still not ready as they weren’t even in squad.

I think Wilder picked what he believed to be the best team he could start going by what he was advised and then brought the 5 first teamers on for the recommended time from the medics.

Not necessarily, wasn’t it 7 of the starting line up at Blackpool who tested positive, so they might have been the ones who didn’t?
What about McNair, Lumley, Bamba, Peltier, Dijksteel, Hernandez?
That's 9 of the Blackpool starting 11 involved yesterday.

As above the names weren’t the issue it was the conditioning so say a half fit senior pro first 11 starter may be weaker than say a Boyd munce who’d just walked in the door.

so not weaker at all prob stronger in reality.

Read my post above . Some were worse than others medically and were medically advised to only play a certain number of minutes in the game

In which case he played a weakened team, and we won.
Maybe he realised that some players couldn't manage 90 mins (or 120) so rather than start them he had them on the bench in case they were needed to turn the game around in the last 30 mins.
Better than starting them and taking them off after half an hour.

I agree. I was replying to a different post suggesting that Tav, Crooks & Jones must have tested negatively as they were involved yesterday.
