Wilder just lost me

I personally loved everything Neil Warnock brought to our club, the passion, his zest for management and his overall personally endeared him to our fan base. Even though we knew it was probably the right decision to be made there was a tinge of sadness in the decision that enabled NW to leave the club with our best wishes.

At the time I became excited about Chris Wilder, he had a good track record and had played some great football. Spoken highly of by Sheffield United fans to so the signs were promising. It all started so well, there was some incredible moments along the way.

However there were certain things that really irked me about him as time went on.

I posted about losing interest in anything Boro related for a while, his personality was dour, his press conferences were the same thing every single week, same quotes, same old, same old.

The refusal to change tactics no matter what was happening. 5 wins in 27 Chris, your tactics have been found out, instead of denying it, do something about it.

His consistent throwing people under the bus for mistakes, there was no protection, Anfernee Dijksteel seems to have been his go to in terms of putting blames on his players.

As soon as any striker hit form all of a sudden they were dropped. Flo Balogun, a striker with a lot of talent hit 3 in 3 and all of a sudden thar was it, never to start again? Whats the point? Yet he persisted with connolly?

The treatment of Forss and Hoppe. They are club signings but Wilder made this blaringly obvious, there wasn't even an attempt to get them minutes? What's that all about? It's a Finnish international and a USA international who's desperate to get to the world Cup. Forss has hit double figures in a promotion season for Brentford, what was his problem.

We had some highs but it's just all come to such a dour end, I'll be astonished if he gets anything higher than mid table champion's as his next job.
He was given 10 new platers this summer. He has been backed, barring a big name striker so you can't say that was an issue really, he didn't have to strip the squad clean off the bone did he?

Best of Luck to Leo and the coaching team on Wednesday, hope the lads go out there and play with freedom and we can get back to winning ways.

Lenihan if fit to replace Clarke in that line up. If not fit, McNair in.
If Luongo not fit then Paddy in there.
I'd have Crooks instead of McGree to give some physical presence in there, with McGree coming on for Watmore when he's done.

Agree totally.

Shame really, there was a lot I liked about Wilder, but he simply couldn't change it when he was found out. Hopefully we get the next appointment right, because we desperately need to get away from the bottom 3 before we end up being in a relegation battle.

Agree completely with the OP, more and more things started to unravel despite a really good start to this time here.

Never felt that connection between Wilder and the club following the Burnley drama.

He doesn't deserve another go at the PL, I also wouldn't be surprised if his supposed right-hand man Alan Knill decides to have some time off from Wilder once the World Cup is over.

Can see Wilder going the same way Karanka has. Turn up at Boro thinking they're something special and doing us a favour gracing us, only to find afterwards they didn't realise how good they had it.

Wilders next job won't be with a premier league team, and with his next Championship club he may well get a surprise if he considers 12 new players to be a recruitment let down.

Warnock threw plenty of people under the bus

In fairness Karanka was special for us, Similar to Wilder at Sheffield United, it's been afterwards his career has stalled.
Man loves the Boro, I'd gave him back I'm a heartbeat

Bizarre! Why would you bring Karanka into the conversation? He was great for us. Achieved what every manager since would love to do.

Another thing thar annoyed me was how smug he seemed to be getting. There was a total detach between the fans and Wilder. Fans favourites like Crooks and Mcnair just seemed depressed, Fry was left out for like 6 games, Roberts dropped for absolutely nothing despite the fans really liking him, Giles &Jones dropped?!
Why is hoppe in the U21's?
Forss scored in his only start or what's felt like it why does he only get 10 mins here and there?

I found that he protected his team along more than wilder ever did. He nurtured some of Woodgates awful signings to become 2 of the better players in the squad, his man management was superb
He played the blame game after every single game. We were abject on a regular basis, that does not suggest good man management
