Wilder favourite for Burnley???

Some interesting views on CW on the Blades board

Seems he threatened to leave on three separate occasions whilst at Sheff Utd, only to get an improved contract offer.

Some mixed opinions about him, more dislike than I'd expected, but most think his football was found out the season they went down, blaming everyone but himself and jumped ship when they needed him most.

If he has resigned, surely there is a notice period, If so, he can’t take up the reins at Burnley straight away I’d expect some sort of emergency injunction to prevent him doing so until a hearing. The courts are pretty stacked so surely a formal hearing would take ages to be heard? Not that i’m an expert on contract law though, Im far from it.

That’s the one thing that I’m still clinging to as this move would serious damage his credibility and basically make him look like a money grabbing snake.

So it’s a very bold step for someone who likes his Everyman man of the people persona.
Do you now understand why Gibson is dead against poaching managers that are under contract? It is appallingly disrespectful to everyone connected to the other club.

If there’s one thing we have learnt from monk, the besic deal, even back to Karanka thinking we would beg him back. Gibson does not fall for this

Might cost Burnley rather more than they were hoping for. Their chairman has acted pretty cluelessly so far this week - could just be that he hasn't any idea what he is doing. Certainly looks that way.
I thought you said there was nothing in it Rob. Everyone dead relaxed on the bus, club not concerned etc.

Yes I do but I was talking about those that are willing to let them go after an official approach and not the devious underhand tapping up tactics this appears to be.

But in the same token this proves my point as well that other clubs would steal our in a heart beat.

If it is done correctly, it is fine and above board. If it is done through tapping up then I agree
That’s it col my issue was ruling these out altogether reduces our options considerably

but as an example ( ok a bit extreme I grant you ) look at ten cat at Ajax he’s leaving Ajax wish him well he’s joining no ones moaning it’s about moving on and all parties agreeing that’s how it should be.

If he as being reported in advanced talks with Burnley without MFC permission he surely is finished at the Riverside?

Looking at it from the other side of things. Boro sounded Strachan out on the 26/09/09 at the Coventry game according to KL I think (yes he was unemployed) However, Southgate wasn’t sacked until after a victory against Derby on 20/10/09 whilst joint 2nd in the league. Some might suggest that was appallingly disrespectful to Southgate. Tapping up a new manager behind your current managers back then sacking him after a win some 4 weeks later isn’t what I’d call morally respectful either.

Hopefully Burnley w

Hopefully Burnley will get the same performance out of Wilder that we did out of Strachan.

Was happy yesterday after the gazette and echo articles but getting itchy feet now again. Still hasn’t been put to bed. Such an important game for us on Saturday aswell. What a **** show.
Yes I’m the same there is def an issue here what that is no one really knows but it’s clear something is there let’s hope it’s resolved or addressed quickly.

This reminds me of the karanka walk out story that broke early in the morning and the frenzy after as it was so insane to be true it had to be rubbish. Why when how ??

And the silence from the club then was telling not dismissing it as you’d expect but very quiet, this reminds me of that.

As we all know it wasn’t rubbish so sadly these days you can never rule anything out.

Two tweets from the press about not messing Gibson about. I suspect he’s not officially been asked/spoken to so not in a position to leave yet. Doesn’t want to resign. We don’t want to sack him. Playing a game.

He does have form according to Sheff Utd fans.. You’d think after he saw first hand how Gibson dealt with Derby, he’d know better than to play games. I find it all so surreal and can’t bring myself to believe he will be allowed to leave unless a small fortune is paid by Burnley that satisfies him. Gibson has every reason to ramp up the compo if it got to the courts with our season derailing like it has, the timing, potential loss of premier League monies etc. Wilder wont have that sort of wedge to risk a court battle and Burnley wont want that either.

Interesting that the best odds of his departure have LENGTHENED on oddschecker to 6/4 now. Was odds on yesterday. Seems funny to lengthen them if even nobodies on teoitter are aware he’s ‘in advanced talks’.

It’s all just guesswork and BS …. until it’s not.
Personally, I think Rob’s comments on here are more concerning than anything else I’ve seen, as I’ve always assumed he has a bit more of a clue as to what’s going on at the club, than the rest of us?

His odds have widened slightly on sky bet. From 1.5 to 1.67. Not sure what that is in fractional, my head doesn’t process them.😅
