Wilder eyeing second spot

Mr Warnock v Mr Wilder - that is going to be interesting!
a mixture of fortunes.. Wilders lost against a lot of these teams last season and some teams already have the measure of the Watford players

QPR (away) - drew 2-2 away in February 22
Birmingham (home) - Watford drew at their place start of the season
Wigan (home)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Luton (away) - Watford won 4-0 at home after a sending off in October
Huddersfield (home) - beat us 0-2 at home last April
Coventry (away) - Coventry beat Watford 0-1 in November
Bristol City (home) -beat us 2-1 away last February
Cardiff (home) - Watford beat them 2-1 away in November
Hull (home) - beat us 0-1 home in April 22
Sunderland (away)
Stoke (home) - drew 0-0 away in December

Mowbray and Warnock will be having a glass of wine and swapping notebooks on Wilder. Mowbray's Blackburn side beat Wilder last January at Ewood Park

2 defeats and 2 draws in Wilders first 11 games for us.. his most successful period if he can repeat the same Watford would finish on 74 points and I would think with a playoff place.
3 defeats and 2 draws sees them miss out on a play off place with 71 points.

Interviewer: Chris Welcome to Watford, why do you think you are a good fit for this club?
CW: Well I just have a good feeling about the club and mine and the club have a similar outlook in regards to how a club should be run.
Interviewer: Can you elaborate on that please?
CW: Yeah sure, The Chairman likes to change managers regularly and I like to apply for new jobs, as the old saying goes 'the grass is always greener on a premier League pitch'.
Interviewer: so Chris Can you imagine yourself at the club beyond this season?
CW: You don't have to ask me that!
Interviewer: Ok Chris let's quickly move on, so some have said previously that you are a tactical genius, is that true?
CW: of course my CV speaks for it's self by the way off the record if you want a copy of my CV you can have one, I have 100s printed off ready to post to other clubs. But back to the question, yeah I'm very tactically flexible I can quite easily play 532, 5311, 352 and 3511.
interviewer: Finally Chris what do you look for in a player?
CW: Attitude over ability, I can't stand players with huge ego's who are all about themselves, I admire players who work hard, are 100% commited and take responsibility for my mistakes(sorry can we edit the last bit) take responsibility for there mistakes.

After being handed success on a plate by bright guy Wilder (a team in 2nd place no less………based on the metrics (surely the only measure of success that counts)), it’s entirely down to Carrick if he goes and screws it up from here.

ON HIS TARGETS

“I’ve signed to the end of the season, and I’d like our season to be ending by me walking up the steps at Wembley to get a trophy.
“I’ve got to isolate what I can affect and have an influence over in this 11-game period. I have to control the controllables.
“One thing to remember is that 11 games is very nearly a quarter of a season. People will look at the top two and think it’s done and dusted. I think top spot is, but not second place.”
He's not saying Watford are capable of second place. What he's saying is spot on. Second place isn't done and dusted.

One of my previous gripes about Wilder was the way he referred to Warnock as the 'Previous manager'
Such an insult to a hugely popular figure here and came to us at the right time, saved us then stabilised us. Should he have gone that summer? Probably but he stayed then got sha* on by the club for that clown.
Neil Warnock is everything Wilder isn't and I hope he absolutely smashes Watford when Huddersfield play them

Think he will certainly get watford in the playoffs. There fixtures look pretty winnable if they got back on form
