Why is no one posting about Steve Gibson anymore?

It's not so much the fact that people have concerns, it's the hilariously over the top way these concerns are expressed. I mean right now Carrick can walk on water, two years time and everything, absolutely everything he does will be worse than dog *****. That's the internet for you. Happily this is only football and it doesn't matter.
Football fans are often bandwagoners and change their mind on things extremely quickly lurching from over the top fears of relegation to over the top hopes of promotion within a matter of weeks or even days. You only have to look back at other manager's time's here to know that a few wins and a bit of good form ends at some point. Carrick has started excellently but we will lose several time, some times multiple games in a row before the end of the season. The same thing happens with certain players being non-league and then too good for us off the back of one performance.

Objectively, Gibson has made awful decisions multiple times. He's also made good decisions multiple times. Some of the bad ones he should have known better (I think we were all in agreement that Southgate or Woodgate wouldn't work). Some of them he was conned a bit (Monk and Strachan). Some of them just didn't work out as expected (Pulis). Wilder is probably the worst one because Gibson had decided he wanted the club to operate in a specific way (low fee, buy young, develop players, use the youth system) but he hired a manager that wouldn't be compatible with that.

All those bad decisions can rightly be criticised. He might have got it right with Carrick. It's far too early to tell but the early signs are promising. I don't like the insistence on giving anyone that played for us a job. It's too parochial and small time.

I also think the commercial side of the business is rank amateur. Ticket prices are a joke and the club shop is awful (particularly online). If you don't live within sight of the Riverside you are treated as if you don't exist.

I love the fact that Gibson is a Boro fan and we're not just a investment toy for some foreign billionaire and that means I know he has the long-term sustainability of the club at heart. It doesn't mean there aren't improvements that could be made.

We roughly made £25 million in the summer from Selling the Likes of Tav and Spence mostly, including the Nottingham Forest Loan fee. And we Spent roughy £8million
Forss- 3million
Hoppe- 2.5million
Clarke- 2.5 million

So that’s roughly £17 million profit.
About 3 weeks after transfer window opened and we'd only brought in 2 or 3 and hadn't actually sold Spence at that point , Wilder was on radio after an interview with bbc and saying he had just been to see Steve and talk about incomings and the only detail I remember now was that Steve made Wilder very aware of the need to fulfill FFP rulings becasue Wilder went on about how he got that and understood it etc. The thing I take away from that and what eventually happened in our entrie window is that Steve wants to fill the gap in the accounts left by taking no gate receipts or match day sales for the covid year. That would be about 8 or 9m and the left over sum would have been available for a striker like Strand Larson or Gyokeres fella but everybody wanted our financial eyes out over the deals , so to me , might be wrong, that remaining 8m might be in the kitty for Jan if we need it and can get value for money if we spend it.

This ...... 100%

I really like that we try to give opportunities to ex-players. As above you're obviously exaggerating it's not just that any and every former Boro player gets a job. But if there are two candidates that are equally liked, one of whom has a history with the club, and a bit of sentiment towards us and the other has no connection, I'd take the ex-player every time.

A couple of weeks ago a lot of people were venting about the state of the club, the actions or inactions of the chairmen and the role of other senior managers. The recruitment strategy and the strategic position of the chairman.

A few good performances and everything goes quiet and people appear happy. Nothing re the club structure/communication strategy has changed that I can see but it doesn’t appear to so important now.

I don’t have a lot of truck with these Man United fans that only mention their owners when the team is struggling if they are winning their ownership doesn’t seem so much of an issue. Are Boro fans just the same?

The bottom of line is that all fans really care about are performances and results?

I still think he an inept owner who has just happened to find someone who has put some good results together .

Just a few results aside doesn’t ignore the fact we haven’t looked even remotely close to challenging for promotion these last 16 years (aside from one )

We’ll still be complaining about the same **** recruitment and late transfer windows again in January and summer

The general criticisms of Gibson haven't gone away despite the recent upturn in form. Come the summer window, the problems will still be there and having the potential to impact our chances on the field. Let's be honest, a couple of midfield injuries could we'll see our form dip, such is the thin nature of that area.

I want to see more communication from Gibson himself. His ambitions for the club, the plans for the future and possibly about change in recruitment etc. There needs to be some conference with him and the fans at the riverside.

That's the same everywhere though and sort of inevitable. If you get a few transfers in early (Lenihan, Smith, Forss, Steffan, Roberts, Giles were all sorted in July) fans just move on to wanting another target.

Now you've done it 😭

Gibson's a Tory. I wouldn't give him the steam off my shiite (although I did buy two season tickets again this year).

It's SG's club- he owns it and he runs it as he wants. His philosophy seems to be to appoint a manager and let him have free rein without any interference from himself. He has always backed his managers, both good and bad. Would we rather have someone like the Glazers, the Oystons and a few other charlatans who have took over a club just to rape it. We are very lucky to have him and I for one am eternally grateful that I am able to see my Boro play in the Football League at all because it very nearly was not the case. Gibbo puts his own money into the club and without his largesse we would not have one. As far as I am concerned his decisions may not always be right but they are always made with the best intentions for the club.

No he doesn’t . He interferes, and he interferes lots

I hate the constant cycle of "you're a rah-rah" & "stop being a bed wetter". People can't wait to say their opinion is justified and everyone else was wrong.

Loving the wins & general buzz about atm but ffs it's been what, 5 games? We've still got crap ticket pricing, we've still wasted millions over the years and players and managers have had our eyes out, but none of that matters, just focus on the now.
