Why do people hate Nickel back

Ok I’m not saying they are the best band in the world but there seems to be a. Awful lot of hate out there for them.

I was watching pointless the other day and Lauren laverne was guest hosting and one of the answer was nickel back and even she had a go at them in her summary adding something like the awful Nickel back.

Lol

A lot of people hate them because they and their record company targeted making music that sold a lot. They didn't really have a true ethos about what they wrote outside of lets get rich. Thats not to say the music is bad, some of it is good (This Means War), but things like I'll Keep You Up need to be taken outside and shot. Having Photograph played on constant repeat for months didn't do them any favours either.

Back in the day, I quite liked How You Remind Me. Some of their other hits like Photograph and Rockstar were a bit cringey to me.

I do like these Justin Hawkins Podcasts.
He's an intelligent guy and very witty. Loved it when he mocked Take That covering Nirvava.

"He's using his little finger to solo there, I mean he's not using it to any great effect but still".

Bit boring and dull. Can't imagine going to see them live or buying an album. They're the subject of ridicule because they're all that but pretty big so makes them an easy target. If you ridicule an unknown band no one gets the joke, if you ridicule someone everyone loves the jokes don't lane but someone middle of the road yet commercially successful like nickleback and it's easy.

I haven’t bothered to listen, so really have no feelings either way. But my mate who is passionate about Rock, reckons they’re the rock equivalent of the country and western “Big hat no cattle”performers.

yeah, I saw that episode, they do have a terrible reputation.

To be fair having just flicked through their top played tracks on spotify I can understand why. It's like taking the worst bits of rock and blending it with the worst bits of metal, and sprinkling over the worst bits of country, with a garnish of pop.
