Who's taking on Houchen next year?

Heard it mentioned that the Tees Mayor election is next year. The region is desperate for change after one Tory disaster after another. Houchen has very much been at the centre of it with promoting Boris Johnson and Brexit. He's done nothing for the region in terms of moving it forward and making a real difference. He doesn't have the ability, ideas or intent to do it and is obviously mixed up with private investors who are only in it for what they can get out.

Just hope Labour put forward a strong candidate who can take it to Houchen. A strong, experienced candidate is needed who's done things in life. Someone who can get the public onside and expose Houchen for what he's doing.

Nailed on Andy Preston will go for it. Hopefully people have seen through him.

Labour still to pick a candidate, same for PCC as well.

We need good candidates for both, not spent time around Houchen but he is a good operator and media whore, he won't be easy to beat.

I have met Steve a few times, again as above he does his homework but is inherently unlikable both professionally and personally for me.

Had a couple of emails for people intending to stand for selection as Labour's candidate for the next Tees Valley mayoral election. Chris McEwan and Luke Henman.

Already put off L.H due to his use of colour on his header on the e-mail. Using the blue and the white, a cursory glance you could assume that he has already been chosen.

Sorry but who is "Steve"?

I'm supporting Luke for Labour's candidate. I said it years ago publicly that a more hard working honest chap you would struggle to find, so was very happy when he put up to be a candidate.

Labour has already chosen our PCC candidate to stand against Steve Turner, we have chosen Matt Storey who is a Middlesbrough councillor for central ward and is currently Andy McDonalds chief of staff.
