Who was our best Keeper?

My first Boro game was in 68 and when taking me turn in goal while the other kids where Gordon Banks ,i was Willie Wigham, loved him ,my memory is sketchy but does anyone remember him clearing the ball only for it to hit Gordon Jones (i think) on the back, the ball looping over big Willies head and him scambling back to stop the ball crossing the line ,it was quality .loved Jim Platt could never understand why big jack and John Neal for a period prefered Pat Cuff and Jim Stewart respectively Maybe a dip in form honestly can't remember,he was an excellent keeper.but in my humble opinion the big Aussie is the stand out,

How often does this appear as a thread on here ...

Depends on who you were brought up on kevin poole made stephen pears look like peter shilton but from my era 1989-to date gets my vote especially given the young back 4 he had infront of him in the 1980s

Likewise we went from jason steele to shay given (shame he opted to warm stoke's bench than come here for another year or 2)

Everyone remembers schwarzer's penalty save but what about all his howlers over the years ...

Give over man.
Schwarzer by an absolute mile, from Jim Platt.
Pears was a very good keeper, but I'd argue Mark Crossley was better.
That Schwarzer came back in when fit shows how good he was when Crossley had been so brilliant.
