Who should have replaced Karanka?

After a great couple of years he was sacked just over 4 years ago. We were on a terrible run and hadn't won in something like 10 games, but we were only 3 points from safety. I remember the names being touted were Harry Redknapp and Nigel Pearson. Was there anyone else available at the time who was a realistic choice who would have given us at least half a chance?

One thing is for sure is that Agnew was never the right choice. It was a disatser!

I think Marcelino, currently coach of Athletic Club and formerly of Villarreal and Valencia, was out of work at the time Karanka left. I always thought he'd have been a good fit for us. Unless he didn't or doesn't speak English, I'm not sure. I think Nigel Pearson should've been appointed Boro manager about three times now. If he was free at the time he'd have been well placed to lead us back up if he hadn't been able to keep us up.

I would have went for Pearson.
I'd say Warnock, but he'd already signed for Cardiff by the time Karanka was sacked.

I hated the idea of Garry Monk even before we appointed him, he'd failed at Leeds from a position of strength and has done nothing since either.

I said long before Monk was given the job to get Warnock on, money to spend he would have taken us up as champions

4 managers & no money later he came in saved us from relegation & whatever fate awaited us & trying his very best to keep us within touching distance of the top 6

That whole situation was dire "We're going with Agnew". We went down with a whimper, there was still a quarter of the season left when Karanka was sacked. I would have gone with Pearson all day long.

Nuno Espirito Santo and Daniel Farke were two of the other appointments around that time. Not that I'd heard of them.

Just looking back the articles of Karankas sacking and who was around at the time.

For me I'd have given Pearson a go, give him time to get used to the players see what's what, if we went down then we'd have been in a good position and with the funds available to get back up and not Monk p*ss it up the wall (barring Howson and Randolph.)

Bring Carlo Anchelloti in. We could have given him the £15 million we would later **** away on Britt to pay him for three months. So enamoured of the area he would become, he would drop his wages and come to manage us permanently. We'd have a trophy and a couple of seasons in Europe sown up before you could say "6 million for Rudy Gestede? Not for sale. Can I interest you in Patrick Bamford?"

Warnock first choice.

Dyche second - he would have walked himself here to take over the Boro.....😉
Would I love Dyche him here, best there is!

I'm a big believer in a person & a club been a perfect fit & anything is possible, which is Dyche & Burnley, I think one without the other both will struggle

It still baffles me to this day why we never got Pearson in.

His transfer business at Leicester was unbelievable.

Watford sacked him when he was turning them around.

Yes you do wonder if Dyche could cut it at another club.
