MFC have a few names to chuck into the ring, Merson, Marco Branca, Adama, Gaston, Emerson.

Mason Mount, James Maddison, Toney, Grealish are great shouts.

But who is the greatest?
 
Do you strictly mean the championship, i.e. since it was rebranded, or just English 2nd flight?

I'm going to say Harry Kane from his time in loan: maybe not the best player at that point, but becoming England's all time record goal scorer probably puts him ahead of anyone else.
 
If you’re speaking strictly about the “Championship” and not the second tier, and you mean for what they achieved in the Championship, I’d suggest it’s definitely not a Boro player.
 
I'm working on championship rebranded basis. Kane is a great shout.

P.s. and on the basis of what they have achieved in the game. Rooney and Kane, I'm not sure many come close to either of those two.
 
If it’s the second tier of all time, and it’s about what they achieved in their career (not just the second tier) then surely people like George Best and Gazza should be mentioned?

Ironically, I did say it wasn’t a Boro player above.

The way I read the question was the greatest player to play in the championship. In the literal sense, Rooney would have to be up there. Otherwise, if it was just championship legends then it would be someone like George Friend 😜
