Which 2 strikers are we bringing in:

The squad has so much strength (barring injuries & international leave) apart from
up front. As hard as Coburn tries he doesn't have that yard of pace to play in the current system, who would be your picks for 2 strikers to come in? I think we will buy 1 and loan another from the prem.

I'm very surprised Carrick wasn't asked a direct question on it with us having half a fit striker in the whole squad.

I don’t think we’ll be bringing 2 forwards in - not in this window. I think we’ll strengthen more there in the summer

Im not sure Forss would cut it up top on his own.

I think everyone likes the idea of it, but in reality I dont think it would work - and I'm pretty sure Carrick would have already explored this and appears he has already decided on it (having played him almost always on the wing) - I might be wrong but I'm sure MC played him up front for his first few games in charge, at least he did against Hull and Bristol from memory.

So I cant see it happening - unless MC and the coaches have worked on his play, and have seen an improvement in whatever area they thought he lacked when they tried him up top previously.

You're right, he did play him as forward in his first few games. I think he did OK too, but agree I'm not sure Carrick likes him there. Not involved enough in build up perhaps?

However it did coincide with Jones' personal issues so that might also have a factor - no one else to play there.

I think Forss is best at arriving onto the play rather than dragging the play to him, if that makes sense?

Forss didn't strike me as either a hold up player like Josh or a shoulder of last defender type as LL is. Maybe that can be coached, if anyone can, MC can.

He's more of the latter but LL and Archer can hold it up a bit too. Whereas I think all Forss really does is try and play on the shoulder.

He's a bit like an Aliadiere with better finishing. Movement is good and that does create space for others, but struggles to get involved enough as a striker. Aliadiere was played wide quite a few times too, think very similar issues.

  • Middlesbrough need to find attacking replacements after another injury blow, this time to Emmanuel Latte Lath.
  • Potential targets include Cauley Woodrow, Rhian Brewster, Luis Muriel, Joe Gelhardt, and Dion Charles.
  • Middlesbrough may be able to acquire Luis Muriel at a cut-price due to his lack of playing time recently.

Luis Muriel could be our 2024 Marco Branca! 😍

Started at the same Colombian team as Ricard.......

Forss hasn't played up front for Carrick much but last season Jones wasn't able to start matches so we needed someone who could play there and Forss did that. This season Jones has cemented his place in the team again and when Forss comes back he's not going to be guaranteed starter so Carrick might look at another way of getting him into the side more which might mean a position change. He's obviously been a striker for most of his career and it is an area we are struggling in so he could be given a go. I think he'd be better playing off the left than the right as well because he likes to cut in and shoot which means he's shooting with his weaker foot most of the time so he might have more success on the left. Last season with no other RW and McGree and Ramsey on the left that wasn't a consideration and probably going to be similar this season.

Some depressing names in there.

Joe Gelhardt was terrible at Sunderland last season
Rhian Brewster has scored 4 goals in 3.5 years
Cauley woodrow has struggled for goals recently since his Luton move though if he can get his Barnsley form back maybe.
Cant see the Muriel one, expensive older columbian with weight issues.
Dion Charles is interesting but at 28 hes only ever really had 1 and a half good league 1 seasons though hes been on fire so far this year. Probably the pick of the 5 though depending on cost.
