So do I. However he wasn’t backwards in coming out with his opinions which got plenty of reaction. You have to have a thick skin to say some of the stuff he sometimes came out with.

People challenged his views because he blindly either defended the Tories or deflected when their failures were discussed. Away from his questionable faith in a corrupt regime however he seemed decent

Agreed. Wasn't defending him or attacking him. Just giving a potential reason.

Yes the "Govey" approach is probably being deployed. When you can't defend the indefensible, just keep your head down until it blows over then pop back when you think it's safe
