Where is the Football League Transfer Market at now?

Since Boro got relegated and blew an absolute fortune on a pile of idiots not many big money permanent transfer deals have gone through in the FL have they?
Maybe I've just not noticed them?

We did the 15 on Britt, 7 on Fletcher, then our 'second wave' of 7 on Saville, 6 on Flint, 5 on McNair.
There are more but I can't be bothered as it is just too sad :( :) :poop:

While we were doing this how many other multi-million deals have gone through in the last few years?

Not including, transfers up - ie, FL to PL?

Just thinking that a feeling of austerity was in the air on most Clubs even before Covid put a hole in balance sheets.
It feels a little bit tricky to put a market-price on someone like Forss than it used to don't you think?

Here's one I can think of.
A few years ago .....Toney to Brentford from Peterborough for £5m (apparently we were interested )
Norwich got Pukki for £1m IIRC

Toney was 10. Although turned out to be a bargain. They did buy Maupay for 1.6mil.

Swansea signed Joel Piroe for 1.5mil and scored 20 goals. Just proves that you can pick up forwards who are on the cheap.

That's said... I agree the landscape has totally changed. I think even clubs with parachute payments are not throwing it around. I mean who have Watford / Burnley and Norwich really bought? Burnley are losing everyone.

I grant you Fulham brought in Wilson and Muniz last year. Also Bournemouth went for it in Jan.

Yet the days of buying bang average players for 7mil like Fletcher / Sav and Flint have well gone. You look at those figures now and it seems madness. 7mil for Flint? He's just been given away.

Stoke blew loads of dosh on players, and villa spent a fortune on kodja, mccormack and a few others too, not many clubs did though though

To be fair though Disco it seemed like only us spending those kind of fees even then!

I suppose wages and the use of loans extensively have changed the landscape too.
Back when I was a lad it felt as you would instinctively know the right price for a player.
eg, £2.3m for Gary Pallister to break the English record.

Loans have destroyed the Championship and now the PL is putting the final pieces into place to complete the transformation of the Championship into a PL B team league.

Supposed 'undisclosed' is the most often used term regarding fees.
Then again you often see media speculation that I suppose most of us accept as being correct.
eg, this Forss fee......do we know it's officially £2m?

Couldn't believe the £2.5m paid for Akpom when we were supposedly on the bones of our ****

COVID was a massive hit to club finances. A year without gate receipts. Don't think we're back to business as usual yet so transfers are still lagging behind a bit. PL clubs have got plenty of money but for teams like us to spend we have to sell players to PL teams

Still not many 'within football league' transfers. excluding scotland.
So weird....this used to be the bread & butter.
Gyorkoris to Boro to smash the impasse :) Biggest inter-league transfer since Assombolonga!!!!
